When I was mount this engine, OS FS 120 Surpass II on the stand, I can't even imagine how many difficulties I will meet during the simple test run of a new engine. Really, I spend over 2 days jumping around this engine attempting to find the way of step by step tuning to achieve more or less stable engine performance. I think, that the key problem - super sophisticated carb design with integrated regulator plus embedded fuel pump with a high fuel pressure. From one side, it should give great independence in flight (doesn't matter where is fuel tanks placed, how high it is mounted, etc.). From another side - to adjust an engine to its peak and stable performance you should spent an hours in fine tuning. And yes, if you're changing something in engine setup (fuel type or fuel mix content, glow plug, prop size, else). definitely, you will spend few hours to adjust it again. There is a few things necessary to mention:
1. Engine runs very hot, much hotter than its predecessor. The reason is simple - engine construction maximizing quantity and quality of an air - fuel mix, engine produced much more power and clear, would run hotter.
2. Fuel pressure from integrated fuel pump is sufficient, which brings the necessity to adjust main needle valve, leaning the mixture.
3, Each set of adjustments are very dependable from changes. One was turned - others should be adjusted as well.
4. Engine manual says that recommended idle speed is 2600-2800 rpm, not lower, so sorry, but you can't find very low idling sounds.
Thank you for watching !
