+thebobby I don't understand how he could describe the dress as having chinoise "high points". That's UTTERLY RIDICULOUS. The WHOLE DRESS is chinoiserie, FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, FROM INSPIRATION TO COMPLETION. It's just irritating. It's like saying an apple has highlights of apple-like qualities.

I remember that time and Gwyneth did cause a lot of commotion for that dress. The 90's was an over the top decade and that year was a turn for minimalism and she embodied that perfectly on the biggest night of fashion. If this video kept to how Oscar dresses have influenced fashion, it would be an interesting watch. Instead, the host makes it seem like these dresses influenced these actors' careers--which is false. Nicole Kidman was never "just the wife" of Tom Cruise, and Gwyneth Paltrow was never "just the girlfriend" of Brad Pitt. It's insulting to say otherwise.

He also tried to act like no one had really heard of Keira Knightley either...the 2006 Oscars comes after _Pirates of the Caribbean, Love Actually,_ *and* _Pride & Prejudice_ - so, so off-base. Keira Knightly wore that dress in 2006, NOT 1996 (when she would have been like 10 or 11). Also she was NOT an unknown at this time. Her breakout success with Bend It Like Beckham was 4 years prior to this and she had already done at least one Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and a bunch of other stuff. Kim Basinger's Oscar was NOT in 1977. She won for LA Confidential, in 1997. Cher's dress in question was worn in 1976 and has nothing to do with the year that she was in Mask (1985). I have noticed this guy KEEPS making mistakes... his dates are sometimes off by decades!

My favorite Oscar gowns of all time was the powder blue Prada worn by Lupita in 2015 I believe it was. That dress wouldn't have looked half as good in anybody else, the color againt her skin was perfect, & she's got a very lean, athletic body type & the neckline really showed that off.

I don't see a single woman of color on this list. Interesting....

If not many get nominated in the first place than they less likely to be a best dress list. But I think Halle Berry look on the year she won was an epic look that should have been included.

We all know the Academy is 95% white. They even made memes and jokes about it recently like the 2016 or 2015 Oscar

Cheyenne Printup This is about the dresses, not the people. They left out plenty of great dresses worn by women of all colours. Not for racist reasons, but because they thought these dresses were the most iconic.
