Elvis received an honorable discharge from the US Army and served in Germany where he met his wife, Priscilla. My next door neighbor served with him in training in Texas. He had nothing but good things to say about Elvis back then. Also, he always wanted to be treated like everyone else, refusing any special "celebrity" perks as he could have gotten back in those days if you were wondering. I asked if he got his autograph or photo and he answered "no", why would I? He was just like us and carried his fair share of the work like every soldier was expected to. Of course this happened in the late 1950s, and those people are in their 80s now a days.

That black leather outfit that Elvis wore in his 1968 comeback special is hands-down the sexiest outfit ever worn! ~sigh~

I love all of 68 special fashion Elvis wore. White suit (If I can dream), Red suit (Gospel), black silk shirt n pant (Guitar man), Black leather (Boxing stand up) all so beautiful fashion. Elvis was so handsom in 68 special. Even today's standard, he was so trendy.

I don’t know what the right words are, When I watch what he entered into, his voice was magical but for the time he was in the popular culture said unbelievable comments and the same from other famous blues artists when I see Elvis saying he can’t criticize any other artists “There’s room for all of us” what a gifted person he was not just in his voice but compassion to touch so many it’s still being felt in 2022😎 There is only one King and he said that too. Thank you God for letting us all lose ourselves in the gift of music That’s made for EVERYONE!….

Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge were parts of my childhood. It's impressive to see Baz go from those movies to Elvis. Baz collaborated with actors like Leonardo Dicaprio, Nicole Kidman and John Leguizamo. Baz made Dicaprio a star. I thank Baz Luhrmann for Leo's successful acting career

Ok fans the bottom line is Elvis time is Now, Elvis deserves an Oscar hands down from Hollywood. This movie is coming at the perfect time on what Elvis fans needed for decades, to get Elvis back in the minds of everyone not just his fans, time for Elvis is Now…the movement must be started, spread the word…. Ok fans, these interviews and the stars are what Hollywood was all about and it somehow got lost….now in a unique way it’s back….I was lucky to experience the Elvis world he created back in the 50’s ….black & white television appearances, buying his 45’s for 39 cents, going to see Love Me Tender in a movie palace, that’s right a movie palace in Washington Heights, New York….years later Elvis live in Madison Square Garden…fast forward 3 1/2 years ago I began writing my book, never knowing that this monumental movie was in the works…Of course I haven’t seen the movie yet, only the trailers but the new book Elvis: The Quest for an Oscar gives an accurate account of why Elvis deserves an Oscar for not only his 31 movies but for his unequaled contributions to the movie industry. On another note everyone who had the opportunity to see Elvis movies in the theaters when they were originally released always came away with a unique and gratifying movie experience. Elvis was not only a movie star but a great actor also. Austin Butler will absolutely win the Oscar for his performance in “Elvis”. This is the movie you must see, Elvis: The Quest for an Oscar is the book you must read, 536 pages with a great cover. It’s time Hollywood recognized Elvis for his contributions to the movie industry…when Austin Butler gets his Oscar next year and he will, Hollywood needs to right the ship and give one to Elvis. For those who say I’m wrong, for those who want to criticize these feelings, remember what you are witnessing is coming from the greatness that Elvis possessed……Elvis never really left the building, he is forever right there in our minds and hearts….as Ed Sullivan would say “tonight this is going to be a really really big show right here on our stage, Elvis……Presley………

Baz Luhrman is by far the most interesting director. I didn't like Moulin Rouge, never saw Romeo & Juliet, and wasn't interested in DiCaprio's version of Gatsby. I loved Elvis. What I like about Luhrman's approach is that he puts an intellectual spin on the storytelling, taking a deep dive into the research and coming up with this colorful and innovative way to tell the story that he wants to show on screen. He adds bits and pieces of entertainment and education about his subject matter that has not been present in previous depictions. This movie is definitely going to receive many, many Oscar nominations.

The acting was great, the movie over all was wonderful. I had two issues, my personal opinion... The lay out was different from the first half of the movie to the other. Also, adding modern music like rap is insulting to Elvis, basically saying his music alone doesn't.cut it. And if you wanted modern music then stick to rock and roll and rhythm and blues. Seemed off putting. And I love all music, just Elvis is Elvis, you don't need anything else.

I think it was done to show that Elvis Presley has stood the rest of time and appeals to all music fans. If a rap artist samples a song, it’s like a tribute to the original artist. That’s what Baz was trying to show. I could see why it can be hit and miss with the audience, it can be off putting if you don’t enjoy rap or hip hop music.

I am 84 and remember when elvis made his first records and knew he had appropriated black music but that was the only way white people could hear black music In order to hear black music, you had to tune into a black radio station and they had their own language. Slang, I guess. I lived in Chicago at the time and white people didn't go to black clubs to hear their music, so elvis brought thst to us Of course elvis was not the king of rock and roll and he knew that, but I believe he loved black music as did I. 😍😍

this guy has got to be the most overrated director ever. 'elvis' looks like it was shot by someone who has adhd or on speed. he's got rap/hip hop playing in the 1950s, and elvis looking like a drag queen. parker didn't have neither the accent nor the insight nor the vocabulary that hanks has. not only is the feel of the movie all wrong, there are so many factual errors that it's pitiful. why does this guy deserve praise? i'm sure i could have done a better job with that budget...sign of the times. i stopped watching after about half an hour...

This film has some of the least direction I’ve ever seen. The performances are great, the music is there, and there are some cinematic or editing moments that are beautiful. Luhrman had no competence or coherence as a director, so the entire film was one long bad montage. It had great ingredients that added up to a mediocre experience, and none of the great ingredients had anything to do with Luhrman.
