Oscar was the only one in the brazilian national team that managed to score v Germany during WC 2014 in the 7-1 loss. He didn't go for having a career in football, he went to support his family as they came from very poor conditions, and he's not the first one to do so. I'd do the same tbf.

He was on massive money already and was already a millionaire many times over by the time he went to China..... He was earning £150k a week at Chelsea. I'm not blaming the guy for deciding the massive wages in China were more important to him than his legacy and prestige as a player... He gave that and his international career up for more money than anyone could ever spend. Lets not pretend this was some poor kid from the slums going to China just so he could feed his family and give them a comfortable life. Him and his family were already set up for life.

The one thing i disagree with Oscar is those Brazilian superstars got poor after retiring was caused by their inability to control their spendings because of their partying lifestyle. Ronaldinho is the perfect example. Never settle down and still live the way he was 10 years ago. So its not because of they dont have enough money. They had in abundance of those. Cristiano got kids and settled down very quickly. He surrounded himself with people who are very honest with him. The guy is very discipline. Rarely drinking or partying. Also he invested his money into businesses. So the money will keep growing. Thats a guy that Oscar needs to make an example. Oscar with his talent will make money anywhere he goes. So while his intention is honorable but i think his decision to play in China is wrong and still wrong to this day. He can still get the same contract he got in China, in Europe as well.

Nothing wrong with making as much money with football as you can while u r young. The career of a footballer is short, shorter if u r seriously injured, so he needs to put his future first.

Crazy to think that the whole Brazil squad except for Neymar ended up disappearing after their embarrassing loss back in 2014. Such young talent that got washed away. I was wondering what happened to Oscar, Hulk, and David Luiz.

David Luiz went to Brazil to play for Flamengo. He's the currently champion of Libertadores (SA Champions League). Hulk is also in Brazil playing for Atlético Mineiro, and he won the national championship last year.

I have nothing but respect towards him. He sure did something some people might hate, IF he pretended otherwise. But man was being honest, he preferred the money. People sometimes forget that being a footballer is a job, and to me personally leaving my current work to chase much bigger fortune is very normal. Loyalty is something quite hard to find in professional world anyway.
