Derron, Managed to overcome the issue by doing the following; 1. Created another ethernet connection by going to edit connection. Made it as manual and with the IP4 address. Then created a second adapter in the VMWare setting for the Kali VM with Lan Segment (OSCP-Outside). Then rebooted the VM and did ifconfig. I was able to get the eth0 going to the internet with wireless IP address and eth1 having the manual address. Further, route command too gave me the correct results.

nice work on troubleshooting this! I have seen this order-of-operations issue. I made my video specifically following what I found to be the easiest way. If you do experience any issues with the second network adapter then manually adding it in Kali seems to solve the issue (as you experienced)

Derron, the only thing I noticed is that the eth0 and eth1 don't seem to be fixed with the IP addresses setup if you happen to shut down the VM and after a long time, you restart it. Even though the ETH0 and ETH1 adapters are reflected when you do ifconfig, the ETH0 happens to lost it's IP address (wireless) or ETH0 happens to have the Manual IP address set and the other adapter without any IP address. I had to go again to the edit connections and select both adapters again and do the save (without dong any changes what-so-ever) and do a reboot. Once the reboot is done, I get back the correct settings with the IP addresses. Is this the normal behavior of this or is there any way, I could set it permanently? @@derronc

Further, is it possible to upload the HTML code for Gale's Blog? I am trying to replicate your exact steps.

@@radhakrishnan864 oh interesting! I've seen this before with Windows VMs on my ESXi server. If I recall correctly I solved it by removing/reinstalling the vm tools. I also started using the VMXNET3 adapters. I suppose as a last resort you could try deploying kali from .iso instead of the pre-built VM image?

Derron, Thank you. The issue I am having is that my primary NAT connection is WiFi. Before I added the second adapter, I was able to get a 192.168.x.x address on eth0. After adding the second adapter, and going to edit connection, I could only see one ethernet connection. When I added the manual IP4 address and rebooted the VM, looked at the ifconfig to see that eth0 was not having any IP address, but eth1 had the manual address I had keyed in. My Kali VM and the laptop as a whole is connected to the internet via WiFi. How do I get about getting the connection (Kali) to go to the internet with eth1 also in play?
