It isn’t the original soundtrack (the original had sound affects since it was the 14th sound Oswald cartoon) though it’s still catchy

Weird to think the Great Depression is what must have been the cause for the common plot of homeless characters that are trying to get ahold of food in cartoons. Something that’s still common today because it was so often used

This would have been right before the Great Depression, though. This short was released in August 1929, while the stock market crash that usually marks the beginning of the Depression (in America, at least) wasn't until October 29th of that year. The "homeless vagabond" character concept goes back well before then, being a staple of Vaudeville. It's probably most notably illustrated in Charlie Chaplin's "Tramp" character, which he'd been doing for the movies for well over a decade by this point.
