Thank you! Yeah it’s really pretty satisfying when it all comes together. Last night I had the next level setup going with the output of the tape into endlesss and fading in huge sections through an AMS it just got to next level lush. It’s a really inspiring thing. I’ve different loops hanging up now and I can just grab the right length and go. It’s pretty fast !

The thing I love most about this, isn’t even the tape machine. It that your ‘unboxing space’ looks exactly like just inside our front door. Shoes everywhere, kids everywhere, bikes.

I used to listen to jamie's music some 10-15 years ago and then somehow lost track. Now by accident found him again and its been fun to check out some of his new content! Great to see he's still kicking and staying true to his original soul. Peace out!

Wowsers! Love the nerdery of this, so beautifully done. Btw - the Korg SE-500 has CV and S-Trig control of tape speed, effect on, intensity reset. It also does sound on sound. All from 1979! But Jamie obviously did a whole heap more with that reel to reel.

Oh yes! That vid you did was great. What a lovely box that is. I’m waiting on another mod on this to allow access to the super slow mode .. it’s a switch deep in the machine but I need it on the front. That will allow 4 octaves control. The munge levels get so crazy after that. Lol

@@HANGINGOUTWITHAUDIOPHILES I've just realised this is your channel Jamie, ha. Four Octaves- wow, that's some serious pitch potential. The only thing I found frustrating with tape speed CV is the lag of the mechanical side of it. Obviously you can't switch immediately to a new speed, it's always a slew. But then it's amazing in so many other ways.

@@AlexBallMusic hey ! Yes. From time to time I get the cameras out to make a little vid. Inspired by all you pros :) I think hainbach has an HP tape with BNC ins that is very fast. I’d had the idea to develop a tape machine using drone motors. Not sure if it’ll ever be made but I’d love to see that too !

@@HANGINGOUTWITHAUDIOPHILES Your video looks more pro than any stuff I bumble together. Hainbach - ah cool. I'll have to ask him about that. Drone motors - now you're talking. Obviously a joystick remote control would need to be incorporated. 😀

@@HANGINGOUTWITHAUDIOPHILES that would be incredible. And I’m talking about recording stuff the way you normally do like with drums and other instruments all analog and then chopping them to bits and reassembling them. With some scattered electroacoustic type sounds and elements of soul, funk etc. Keep it all instrumental and don’t say it’s you. Keep it all mysterious like aphex did with Tuss. Big fan, sir.

You got my sub with this for sure, but I'm not letting anyone near the insides of my MX5050 4 channel. It's too important to me for my drum stems. Also, I'm betting I can accomplish a lot of these tones with my Fulltone TTE and a Zen Delay...

Worth a try! It was a bit tricky but it can be done. I recommend a noise gate. Without it the tape is liable to add pops and noise that can be harder to isolate when making the gate signal. The timing is a little wobbly but not bad!
