C-rig is actually one of my favorite techniques. When fishing points its my go to. I've started putting a bobber stop between my knot and bead to protect my knot

I'm with you, I'm just to impatient to tie a C-rig on and drag it around, although I have been skunked before and probably shouldn't have been so stubborn 🤣🎣 Thanks for the tips Ott!

The key to Carolina rigging efficiency is Pre-Rigging your leaders. I have different lengths pre-tied with different size hooks . I get 2x3 jewelry bags at hobby lobby and label and store them in a soft fold tote. Leader line , swivel, hook roll around two fingers and slip into bag. Saves a ton of time when you get hung up. Back in the early 90’s we used Speedo Beads to Carolina rig with also a very efficient system, but they are no longer made.

Glass beads will hurt you so will braid in rocks. I like using a tungsten clacker and smaller rubber bead in front of the knot and swivel. Power swivels are the way to go, especially with longer leaders.

Great video buddy! I enjoy all your videos. I’ve been thinking about trying braid for my Carolina rig but wasn’t sure about it, I’m going to try it for sure now! Thanks for all the great content.

Appreciate the vid quality Ott, but what are some finer points in working the rig. Rod position, imparting action, hook set type, whats a bite feel like given that theres a big weight several feet in front of the rig etc…

Good questions, I pull it to the side, mostly steady drags with a pop here and there if the fish react to that. Hook set is reel the line right then a fast sweep. The bite can be obvious at times and others it’s just weight being there. Good part of braid, you will be able to tell easier.

You should try silicone beads. They are awesome

Great info Ott! I grew up throwing a Carolina Rig on Lake Eufaula, Al. I have tried braid as a mainline before with a 14lb mono leader but upon hookset the leader would break often. Any suggestions? Would flourocarbon prevent that?

I use a 17lb leader most times. Also don’t snap set it. Reel down and sweep

Thank you for the tips! What's the scenario where you determine you want a carolina rig over a texas rig? When they look like they are suspended a couple feet off the bottom?? Thanks

Clear water, little cover are a couple of the big things.

Ott, What do you think about a bobber stop above the sinker?

You could do that. Would help some on casting more than anything. Don’t see any negatives to it.
