The thing about following the timing for sakura blooms mean you end up driving in circles! We had gone rather far north into Tohoku for the last videos sakura. Now some areas had bloomed back down in Yamagata and we will continue down for another special sakura soon! Of course in general the further north you go the later the blooming begins. But Japan is a mountainous country! The blooming will also depend on the altitude. This is why we keep going up and down.
Eboshiyama was much larger and beautiful than we were expecting. It was much less crowded and had a very calm and peaceful atmosphere. Out of every place we visit for sakura this year, we think this was the best spot for a Hanami (sakura picnic) We missed the light up though! A note, the parking is limited and while its not very crowded, we waited in line for about 30mins for a parking spot to open. It is well managed though!
Matsugasaki park was somewhat nearby so we stopped there on the same day. It was fun to see the sakura along the moat here and the red bridge was definitely the highlight here.
We visited these parks on April 13th 2024.
