I'm born & rised as Muslim. I never asked or wonder why each and every mosque in the world had such design. I thought it was just design by some creative people or some uniqueness & decorations added for its beauty. The only thing I knew, the mosques are for Islamic activities, praying, and Muslim community gathering. And the only feeling I've ever had whenever I visit a mosque were calm and relax. Until one day, I did a research on Putra Mosque in Putrajaya, something really meaningful happened to me. I was lucky back then because when I was there, I saw a tour guide was explaining about Islam to a non-muslim tourist who visit the mosque. I came near them to listen. After the tourist continue with his visit in the mosque, I explained I was there for a research to the tour guide. He bring me almost all area inside and outside the mosque including the area that I never know that actually existed before. He told me, each and every part and design of the mosque has its own reason and meaning. Even the trees planted around the mosque have its own messages for the believer. Since that day, whenever I see, visit or driving past the mosque area, I always have different feelings. The feeling that I couldn't explain it by word. A feeling that is way more that just relax or calm. It is more than that. I think I found the secret jewel hidden inside the mosque. If either Aisha or Haikal or anyone there can explain the structure of the mosque, the arabic that written on the wall and ceiling of the mosque (they are actually some verses from the Qur'an) the design of the wood carved near the stairs, I believe it'll help you learn or understand more about Islam. And about Haikal, I think he is joking. I can see you feel awkward when Haikal deny his words he said at the end of the video. That part of Malaysian thing. We love to joke around. And also, Malaysian are NOT punctual 😅

I don't think anyone will see this but for anyone wondering the arabic writings on the mosque are verses of the Holy Quran, the most common ones that are repeated because they are held in high esteem for their benefits are "Allah hu akbar - Allah Almighty", "Subhanallah - theres no clear definition but it generally means "Pride to Allah" and "Maha suci Allah" in Malay", "Alhamdullilah - All praises to Allah" and finnally "La ilaha illlallah - There is no god but Allah".

At 9:33, the Arabic writings at the centre is actually a verse from the holy Quran, chapter 2 verse 144 that translates to: "So turn your face toward Masjid al-Haram. " Masjid Al-Haram is the most sacred mosque in Islam, located in Mecca. It is where the Kaaba is. Therefore, the verse is a revelation that instructs the Muslims to face towards the Kaaba in Mecca, whenever we pray, wherever we are. In our religion, the Kaaba is our "Qibla", the direction we face during our prayers. It symbolizes the unity of our Muslim ummah. 😊✨

5:33 Shun, that thing is called 'kayu sugi' in malay. I'm not sure what it was called in another language but you got it right in the first place. It is used as a toothbrush. It was commonly used before our modern toothbrush was created. Nowadays we don't usually use this anymore because we have toothbrush and toothpaste right. Why we commonly use it before praying, bcs it is a 'sunnah' for us to clean ourselves before praying. Afterall, islam stressed about cleanliness and hygiene a lot to its believer. Hope this give you a little insight on your curiosity.
