Married 41 years now . Went through many ups and downs but love each other so much . Waiting for Mark to come back to the Lord . He walked away from him years before we met . I would love to have a prayer partner and do devotionals with . We are very close in every other way . Been praying for him and our children to be saved . The one child who we lost to cancer at 31 in 2018 was saved so I know I will see her again . Waiting for my other three to come to know my Jesus and be saved

The love between you two most definitely comes through your video's. We need to stay in God's word because as scripture tells us there will be a falling away and Christ is the only thing that will get us through until his return. Thank you for sharing your story. I basically heard mine and my wife's story, we both grew up in Church, we met in College in 1982 and the minute I laid eyes on her I knew she was who God had for me to marry, and did marry in 1984. This year we will be married 39 yrs...I became a Deacon in my Church in 1986 my wife lead music in three different Baptist Churches for 16 yrs, we have two sons, 33 and 28 but ten yrs into our marriage we were really struggling, the old devil had me doubting that I was where I needed be, our marriage was falling apart, and mainly because of my selfishness, but had it not been for the Godly wife God gave me I truly believe our marriage would have ended, but she chose not to give up on me, and after 2-1/2 yrs God brought me to my knees and opened my eyes to my self-centered attitude, and offered me a chance to repent and be forgiven for my selfishness. We also committed to being transparent in hopes it would help others. There are so many people that believe Church going Christians never face trials or troubles in life, that is far from the truth...sorry for rambling.

Been on my own since 2011. My ex-wife was convinced to leave me by the "Woman To Woman" ministry of the church (LCMS) we had worshipped with for 23 years. Saw other marriages in that group end in divorce. Thought it would never happen to ours. Until it did. Don't just never take your spouse for granted. Never take your marriage for granted, either. Marriage is a creation of God. And, like all that is of God, marriages are subject to attack by the devil. The husband and wife working together make a good first line of defense. The family strengthens it. But, if just one wants to end the marriage, it's done. Make time for God within your marriage, as well as each other. When my ex-wife started skipping Sunday worship to work online, I knew that was the beginning of the end. Your testimony was great. Your shared humor and love made it really great. God Bless!

What a wonderful testimony. I pray many will hear your love story, that marriage is not without struggle or immune to health issues becoming a rough unexpected bump in the road. I wish someone had shared the pitfall of holding in feelings, letting them fester, until things become worse in your mind than they actually are. My husband and I are in our 70's now, but in our early 30's we thought we had reached the end of being happy together. I remember so well telling our 9 year old daughter that we were not happy, and we were not going to be living together, and her response was, "You mean like they do on Days of Our Lives". a soap opera. We did divorce, and I did marry someone else who truly loved me, he lived 2 years and God took him home. My husband and I remarried 4 years afterwards and are still together today, I know it's odd, but we never had any hard feelings about our divorce. My second husband and first husband were good friends, our daughter called him Daddy, because she had always called her father, Papa. Our granddaughter is getting married in April to a man older than her and she may gain some insight from your story. She has heard my honest account of our story, but yours may have help her as well. May God continue to bless you both with health. I have enjoyed your videos for a while, but your honesty tonight has earned my respect that your videos are not just entertainment, they are an example of what God can do..

Just stumbled across this video and wanted to tell you how much i enjoyed it. My husband and i have been married 21 years this year both having been married before. We are 13 years apart which at the ages we are now works for us. I never had children but was blessed with his four daughters who have lost their mother and accepted me as a "bonus mom". We have been in some very rough spots in our first few married years as im sure most do but we are blessed now to be in the same plave you two are in your marriage. We are best friends. He trears me like a queen and ge says i treat him like a king. Stick it out people! Its a contract when you take those vows!

@janmoss9008 You're absolutely right. In today's world, marriage vows don't seem to mean anything, but they are still binding before God. I know the Bible makes a couple of allowances, but they are very few. Too many people today, throw in the towel because they're just tired of the other person, or want someone different. And they are accountable to God for that. I am very glad to hear how God has blessed your marriage with your husband, and how you are both in the place that you need to be. We are glad that our video was a blessing. Thank you so much for watching, and for letting us know.

I pray that Shawnasi hand doesn’t cause her much pain. I always enjoy how you speak about God, we need more of that in this messed up world. I enjoy the videos y’all put out, it’s my way of traveling for free. Derrick I’m looking forward to y’all playing putt putt golf again, you are too funny.I think I have seen every video y’all have made and have enjoyed them all and hurt with y’all in the sad times. Looking forward to the next ones.

My husband and I have been married 47 years. We both grew up in church together. Dated four years in high school. This year has been stressful for both of us. We go through times of bickering and down right getting on each other’s nerves. We found this KZitem channel and just loved watching it. This video is what we have needed to bring us back to our basics. Why we even fell in love and knowing it was Godly. We intend to view it at least twice to get what you are really wanting people to know. Thank you and you need to do a marriage class! The Sapp’s! ❤

Thank you so much for writing to let us know this video was helpful, and then it came at a good time. That's why we put it out. We felt it was something God wanted us to do, and open up and share a part of our lives that was personal, so that it would be a blessing to others. It is a blessing to us, to know that it was a blessing to you and your husband.

I'm pretty sure I mentioned this before. ? But my husband and I were married 43 year's 4 months 12 days. When he past. I agree with you marriage is hard but I would not take anything for the years we had together. Did we have hard times sure we did but we never thought of being any where else but together. I always say you have to have respect for someone before you can Love them. You hert when they hert You draw closer. Your happy when they are happy.But any way I enjoyed you sharing this video . Hard words are like feathers in and an old pillow , once that pillow is busted you can never collect all those feathers back same with hard words. You may apologize but they are never forgotten but may before given.
@NCMemoryMakers

Your analogy of the feathers is a good one, in regards to words. Our pastor has used a similar analogy, and it really brings the point home. I am thankful that you had all those years together, and the memories of all the time you spent. And glad we have the hope of seeing our loved ones again.

When Jesus died on the cross and rose again, all the dynamics changed. His commandments were simple Love God Love People. Jesus is the head of the household and man/wife are equal partners in the relationship. It's not a slave/servant relationship but two children of God living together. The ground is level at the foot of the cross. No one stands higher than any other. The divorce rate among Christians is high because they think they are above, beyond and immune to the same sins that the unsaved commit. I left 4 churches because the pastors were caught in adultery and a youth pastor was molesting young girls. Don't think reading 3 chapters a day from the kjv bible is all that's required. Satan knows the bible better than we do&Satan attends church too. God doesn't care how many Scriptures you read a day and memorize, but how much Scripture you apply and live out in your own lives. In this day of high inflation both spouses have to work. Both spouses need to know how to manage money. Both spouses need an education. Both spouses need to know how to cook, clean and maintain a safe home for their kids.

Yes, we definitely have to apply the Scriptures we read, for it to profit our marriage. That is what we finally started doing, and it made all the difference.

It is so wonderful to meet fellow Christians. God led me to this channel today. I have subscribed and look forward to more videos. My husband and I have been married 49 years and we have weathered good times and bad times, but we deeply love each other and 14 years ago went back to church. I teach Sunday School to the senior ladies at our church and lead a women's bible study on Thursday mornings. Never did I dream I would be doing this. My husband is a deacon, usher,backup mixed group Sunday school teacher and teaches a mixed group bible study Sunday nights. God bless you two.

We watched this yesterday evening and really enjoyed it as we do all your videos. We watch your livestream from your church on Sundays while we are getting ready to go to church. Derrick, we started watching a channel a couple months ago called Celebrating Appalachia. They are from NC as well. It might be a channel that you guys would like. They are a Christian family who mostly film from home. They raise a garden and she does cooking and baking and they take hikes in the woods near their home cookout outdoors their twin daughters sing bluegrass and gospel songs.

Have you noticed more and more pastors are not doing marriage or personal counseling. I was having problems and my pastor referred me to a private Christian counseling office. I couldn't afford the copays and deductibles so I left with no pastoral care relied on DIY counseling through books and devotional literature. My husband refused to go to counseling, said it wasn't his problem "all he needed was Jesus." Sometimes Jesus expects us to go to the right earthly counselor
@NCMemoryMakers

I have noticed that, and it is sad. One of the responsibilities of a pastor, is to provide counseling when those in his church need it.

Thank you for talking about our Lord Jesus. Others need to know. We love the Lord and follow his teachings . But we are human like you two and we make mistakes. He always forgives us when we ask Him. @@lynbyrd482 Lol! I would have been fine if she hadn't brought that up. I didn't know what she meant at first, because she said "soup". I didn't remember any incident with soup. That was also one of the reasons I was a little nervous about just doing this "off the cuff", without preparing what we were going to say. Kind of nervous that something might get said that shouldn't be in there. But it is kind of funny, when we look back on it. That was about a year or so into our marriage. We've both grown a bit since then. And so glad that God used that movie, and those steps, to restore the love in your marriage. It really is a matter of getting back to what made you fall for each other to start with, and doing those things again.
