We finally made it to mainland Mexico while traveling the Pan-American highway in our 1985 HJ75 Landcruiser Troopy. But we quickly ran into engine issues that left us broken down and stranded in Mexico State near Jilotepec for almost three weeks. Fortunately, Raul of La Burbuja, his family, and friends came to our rescue with a place to stay, somewhere to ship our much needed parts, and a level of generosity and kindness that we hadn't yet experienced on this trip.

How did we get here?
We're Cody and Olivia, an American couple from Oregon, who found a love for 4x4 driving and camping after we purchased a 3rd gen Toyota 4Runner. After exploring much of the American west in our 4Runner, we found our dream overland rig, a 1985 HJ75 Toyota Landcruiser Troopy, in Bend, Oregon. We plunged head first into fixing up and building out the Troopy with a lot of misadventures along the way. Finally in 2022, we realized we had an opportunity to live our dream of full-time overland travel. We quit our jobs, sold our house and all of our belongings, and set out on the road trip of a lifetime following the Pan-American Highway south to Ushuaia, Argentina.
