Since you were in a remote and military sensitive area , the locals had to report your presence to the local authority .The police had to control your ID to make sure that you were not fugitive criminals or foreign spies . On the other hand it's also for your own security in case of accident , they would know who you are and what is your nationality to contact your embassy . Many international wanted criminals were already arrested in VN and sent back home to face justice in their own countries. The Vietnamese police is actually one of the best police force in the world and a good member of the Interpol . If you were just ordinary tourists with no criminal file and had nothing to hide , you would have no reason to worry or get upset . Unlike in many other countries , the Vietnamese police is very polite , respectful and not brutal . You see when they finished their security control , the police officers didn't do any harm to you , didn't kick you out of the pagoda and let you continue your trip around VN .

Thank you very much for coming to our country. I will explain to you two why you encountered this scary thing in Vietnam. I am Vietnamese but currently living in Norway, I am a researcher of Vietnamese history. The Communist Party of Vietnam is the only party currently ruling in Vietnam. I use the word "rule" rather than "leader". That's why you met four policemen who came to the temple to meet you two at night. After the signing of the Geneva Agreement on July 20, 1954, Vietnam was divided into two countries at the request of Ho Chi Minh. Maybe you will hear some people say: "Ho Chi Minh is the great leader of Vietnam". It was a false propaganda that I had to learn when I was young. From Ben Hai River, Hien Luong Bridge to Ca Mau Cape in the Republic of Vietnam, the people here follow a liberal democratic regime. As for the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, they follow communism. The Vietnamese communist side violated the Geneva Accords, they tried every way to attack and invade the Republic of Vietnam by force. The Republic of Vietnam was lost to communism in 1975. Related to the story of the two of you. The pagoda is a refuge for communists from the North of Vietnam. The government of the Republic of Vietnam respects the religious freedom of the people, so it does not check in the pagodas, so the communists have hidden there. . After the communists took over the government, the communists tried every means to sabotage religion, and were suspicious of strangers present in the temple as in the case of the two of you. And next, in Vietnam there is no freedom for the press or foreign reporters to work in Vietnam, because the Vietnamese communists are afraid of their crimes being exposed. They suspected that the two of you might be intelligence agents or undercover reporters monitoring certain secret activities. There are many things I want to tell you two but I'm too busy. Thank you both for your videos. Wishing you both a trip with many experiences in my country.

Checking tourists' documents at night is a crazy thing for the Vietnamese police. I'm Vietnamese and I don't like that either. When you enter Vietnam to travel, you have applied for a visa, you have informed when you will arrive in Vietnam and how long you will stay. They issue you a visa, which means you can go anywhere in Vietnam without having your documents checked. Is it reasonable for me to say that? But why does this happen in Vietnam? Because they may think you are foreign "reactionary" forces installed in Vietnam. The police in Vietnam are given considerable power by the communist party. You observe the actions of the Vietnamese police. They are very arrogant and arrogant. They may be kind to you because you are foreigners but look at how they treat Vietnamese people. There are many cases of people dying in police stations, please use google translate to learn about this. A large force of propagandists working for the communist party is present on your KZitem channel. Be careful. They always have sweet words, luring you like the Vietnamese police won't do anything to you... but it's better to be careful. The Vietnamese police are a group of licensed robbers. Great! Are you saying the Vietnamese Communist Security Officers discriminate against Muslims ("thought you were Islamists & up to some mischief in the temple")? For God's Sake. It is a Buddhist Temple. If they were Muslims, they would rather stay at a mosque.

Sorry for your unhappy experience in Vietnam. However, You know they just want to maintain public security for all. It is why You feel safe and free to travel around Vietnam without much violence, terrorist attack, gunshooting. It is completely oke for you if you are truly touritst. Even if they want to catch you for violating Vietnam laws, they will inform to your embassy in Vietnam too. Vietnam is a country of peace and laws. No-one should be threatened in Vietnam or no one should threaten others for some stupid reasons such as religous belief or ideologies. Good luck to your trip

@@wetravelslow The Russian Communist Party (in the former Soviet Union) used the term reactionary to label their enemies, such as the White Armies, who fought in the Russian Civil War against the Bolsheviks after the October Revolution. Oh Really! Stalin's USSR: Holodomor was a man-made famine that claimed millions of lives in the Soviet republic of Ukraine in 1932-33. Cut off from food, Ukrainians recalled famine under Stalin, which killed 4 million of them. The Soviet dictator covered up the starvation and cannibalism that stalked Ukraine in the early 1930s. Mao Zedong's CCP - Red China: Land reform, The Cultural Revolution, and The Great Leap Forward: Killed an estimated 24 Million People. Not including is Deng Xiaoping's 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre (known in China as the June Fourth Incident) Ho Chi Minh's Vietnamese Communist Party (Vietnamese: đảng CSVN): - Acting under Mao's CCP order, H.C.M. carried out the Land Reform (Vietnamese: Cải Cách Ruộng Đất 1953-1956) in Nothern Vietnam. Estimated toll in human lives: millions. - The Tết Mậu Thân (1968) massacres in the former imperial capital of Huế, and other cities and towns in RVN in the Tết Mậu Thân offensive (Vietnamese: Tổng công kích và nổi dậy Tết Mậu Thân 1968.)
