@@chadmack1633 They get in. Since the lock only cares about the first touch after entering the geofence. So hypothetically someone could stake out the house / wait for you to leave / return to the geofence active area and sprint to the door to get in before you. But regardless that would only give them very little time to get in and you'd most likely see them trying to get in. But I guess if you don't see them and you get home and the lock doesn't open its a good indicator that someone got in before you. In that case back away I guess

This is a dumb idea. I’ve had times where my automations mistake me being out of the geofence. I’ve had august Auto Unlock minutes after I’ve already came in and locked it. I could see this having glitches where it triggers late after you’re inside.

@@chadmack1633 Now the question that could potentially solve this issue is setting how big the geofence radius is. From Jud's example it looked a little too large where the issue of someone sliding in before you could happen (no matter how unlikely that is). I wish we could get clarification on if you could set it the radius to just be at the edge of your driveway. Because that would solve all the issues. So it uses a RFID chip which can leave it vulnerable to some hackers, the battery is in the "dead bolt" which can leave it vulnerable to a couple of power tools within a few minutes, BUT at least it looks like a standard dead bolt so it's not a give away from a distance. 🤔 It's also only $329 which is reasonable for a good smart lock. I'd also wonder the radius of the geo fence, because that could affect security too. A finger print reader would've been better than a 90's lamp gimmick; even modern smart phones have those. 😅

Still don't like the "security" of it. Let's say you have a neighbor (who lives close enough) whose house you go over to *after* entering the geo-fence, but you didn't enter your home yet, someone could easily enter your home. You wouldn't even know. What are the chances of this happening? Probably slim, but it can still happen. Sure, anyone's home can be "broken" into, but I'd rather have physical signs of forced entry, this way I know if someone has tried or has successfully entered my home. I just think the entire geo-fencing security is flawed, in a big way. The geo-fence is spread over a wide area, and not just your physical property. Now if your home is somewhat secluded or far away enough from other's property, then I guess I'd be fine with it....? 🤷🏼♂️ Edit: As for the remote unlocking, with your home kit, there are hacks to use light and sound vibrations to trick home kits/Alexa/Google Home into performing functions. This is why most other smart locks won't allow you to unlock the door with voice commands, it's a security feature. They'll allow you to *lock* the door with voice commands, but *not* unlock. Edit 2: Also, the battery also being in the physical deadbolt? Now your "deadbolt" is hollow and the only other reinforcement is a battery, that is also hollow with acid and other weak internals. Sorry, but if you're going to accept sponsorships, please don't push trash products.

The tap function does seem like a somewhat of a flaw. I know there’s a fence to only have the owner be near the house, but what if a robber knows about this lock, and waits until the owner is in the range? I know, you don’t want to open a door when the owner is coming home, but what if you’re inside, at night and sleeping, then a robber can just tap it. I do not know, but hopefully there’s a feature to disable the tapping.

Judner Your Home by the looks like it can be easily be broken into. The one side of the locks you should replace those small windows with some reenforced wood. Someone can break from the side window and easily open the front door.

This is cool however my only concern is how strong is the lock with a hollow bolt for the battery.

What if you reboot your phone. Does that make it think you left the geofence and came back?

One thing I think would be cool, not sure if you can but it was not mentioned in the video. But I think it would be cool it would if you were able to change how far out that "geo fence" goes. It seems right now it is a set distance from your home, and I am not sure how big the circle is. But I am assuming that if you left the geo fence and then came back in, theoretically, somebody could time that perfectly and just enter your home because it thinks you are coming back to enter your house. Is this correct? If so, I think it would be cool to able to shrink or enlarge the geo fence circle manually. Second thing: For instance, my family has three people in it who all enter and leave the home at different times. If my mom were to have "admin" access on the app and give her two kids, myself and my brother, the "guest" access. If say I were to arrive home first the finger touch system would work perfectly. But now if my mom or my brother comes home, since I am already home it senses that there is someone home who has not left the geo fence and come back in, so will it unlock for them. Can it detect everybody's separate phone and lock and unlock accordingly?

Hollow deadbolt? I live in a good neighborhood, but recently saw on the Ring community a person trying to kick a strangers door in "probably drunk". After 4 kicks they left because it didn't open. With this lock they'd of gotten in.

Hold up just a little thing couldn’t u leave ur geo fence then come back and while ur in ur geo fence someone breaks in Bc it unlocks once u enter but let’s say someone sees u leave and they wait for u to come back to the area with the geo fence and before u make it home they can touch it

Cool piece of tech, but that doesn’t seem very secure. The only thing keeping the door locked is a deadbolt that’s actually hollow inside for the battery? I feel like someone could easily kick the door open to break the lock

Why in America the door handle is always under the lock ? In France, we just have door handle and lock in one single block and most of the time, the lock is under the door handle...

1. How big is the geo fence? 2. If the Geo fence is 4 blocks wide and you leave the Geo fence then come back and your friends house is 3 blocks away and you stop by on your way home.... your inside the geo fence so can some one come touch the lock and it would work??? Or do you have to be by the door?

What if someone beats you to your door when you enter the geofence? Maybe you can reduce the geofence radius but just what I was thinking.
