Thanks for your videos!!! I also question the cost per digital and gallery. I've tried to give a few digitals included in the price and then charge for the remainder of the calories but that didn't work. The clients with screenshot the galleries and then not by the images and then share those screenshotted images on social media. Became a real frustration for them because then I had to contact the client and tell them they can't use my screenshot of images not paying for them 🙄. Now I just charge enough to give them the full gallery and it's far less frustrating for me and they're happy too with more images. If there's a way though to make it work to sell more digitals please do a video on this!! Love you girls 🥰❤️❤️

Totally get that! We do a little of both. We watermark the images inside of their gallery and the watermark will come off after they download the image. We use shootproof to send galleries and it works great. We also communicate with them about screenshotting and the quality it's going to give. I'm sorry this has happened to you.

Designing a package for that 1 hour session. What do you offer? Do you charge for photos on top of the session? Do you offer a limited # of photos? How do you encourage prints over downloads?

Great video! I'm just beginning. Did my first family session 2 weeks ago for free. Need to get more sessions under my belt to build clientele. Doing this as a side gig. I have another session scheduled in 2 weeks and need to set a date for another family. Obviously will be doing them for free. I am having a hard time deciding when I think I will be good enough to start charging? I am a stay at home mom and like I said, only doing this as a side for fun and to maybe make a little money.

That is awesome!! good for you! I would say set a goal for yourself with what you would want to make. Maybe you want to make enough to save up for a family vacation, buy a new outfit, etc. Go from there! If you put a price out, and book nothing...maybe lower it. If you book A TON, raise the prices!

How much do you price per digital and the whole gallery? Do you edit all the images or just a few and have them favorite them and then edit?
@esquared.photography
2 жыл бұрын
Everyone is so different as far as pricing for the digitals. I would suggest doing what feels right for you. It is bonus money for sure! We do edit all of the images to give that WOW factor and get them to purchase the whole gallery of digital files. Everyone does that differently too.

My biggest frustration in my photo biz currently is marketing. I use social media but don't know what else is effective beyond that. I have had 4 rounds of mini sessions posted and have had 0 inquiries have come in and 0 mini session bookings. HELP!!! lol

I watched all of your video and they are so helpful. THANKS!!! I've been thinking of starting family photography session for years, but don't know where to start. I have an Instagram account but no pictures because I don't have any portfolio. And I thought of giving away free sessions but are people interested in the free sessions even though there is no record? I am new to my area so it's hard to start from friends and family. :(

The best way to improve is just start shooting. Practice practice practice. Even if its just your friends and family to start, treat them professionally and like you would a client, for the session. Just start creating!!

I don't have a problem with shooting family and close friends for free if it helps you build up a portfolio. You can give them low-res photos for social media with the stipulation that they have to promote you. It helps get around the dilemma of you can't get work without a portfolio, while you can't create a portfolio without work.

My biggest isse is, not having a studio. Yes, I do go on location & Home sessions. But I have to stay safe. What do you suggest?
@esquared.photography

Renting a studio can be super expensive. I think for now pushing yourself to do on location, as much outdoors as you can, and in your home if you have a small space when needed.

I wanted to hit "Lke" and "Subscribe" by the end of the video but I didn't and the reason is ironic. The thumbnail for this video mentions "Pricing That Makes Us Cringe". But you never talk about that at all! So that is basically click bait and that makes ME cringe. And that is why I didn't subscribe or hit "Like".

That would be all of the Don'ts listed in the video. Don't be inconsistent, don't guess at what you want to charge...etc.
