Nat King Cole was a crooner and a singer of standards. Nat had the distinction of not only being a great singer, one that sang directly to you and made each song personal, but was one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time. Listen to him doing "Nature Boy", "Mona Lisa", "Smile", "Too Young", and of course, his great rendition of "Stardust".

Nat King Cole’s cover is Simply Stunning 🙇🏻♀️🎼🎶🕊❤️🙏🏽. I remember when my choir teacher in 4th grade taught us this for our Christmas Program. This was in the mid 70’s. I didn’t really appreciate these INCREDIBLE Singers back then like I do now. Artist had to be able SING 🎤 and NKC was dearly loved 🥰 by many back then. Thanks for sharing this and your positive comments. Happy holidays 2022’.

The song was written by Mel Tormé and Robert Wells in 1945 for Nat Cole. Nat is one of premier voices of jazz. Note: he and Frank Sinatra were great friends.

He falls into that group of men-Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, etc.-who would be considered crooners of popular music (from the period of the Great American Songbook) more than rhythm and blues. His catalog is vast and estimable-Autumn Leaves, Stardust, Smile, L-O-V-E, The Very Thought of You, Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer and on and on. Such a distinctive voice and style. Sadly he did not live a very long life dying a month shy of his 46th birthday.

My parents wore out so many of his records when they were alive and I'm worn out 8 tracks, cassettes, and CDs. There is nothing more soothing or Christmasy than the voice of Nat King Cole.

Nat King Cole was a world renowned crooner, but he was also a world renowned top class jazz pianist. He not only could sing like no other, he could also play the piano like no other! Check out his version of "Tea For Two" and I promise you'll be blown away!
