Just found your channel. I have a question. Do you have a windshield cover for the outside of the van? It helps to keep the windshield clean of frost or ice. Living here in Colorado, we have used our to help protect from hail. We stick cushions under it when we know hail is coming.

When you come to South Dakota, no matter if you're in the Black Hills or the city of Sioux Falls on the eastern farmlands, you simply have to deal with violent weather. We've had two derechos this summer. I lost a huge pine tree and had roof damage here in the city, and the Hills on the other side of the state get terrible thunderstorms with massive hail every summer. And winter? That's a whole other ball of wax! It's beautiful, wild, but can be dangerous. We're used to it, but visitors can find themselves in shock and horror at what they have to live through. Anyway - WELCOME to South Dakota - the next boom state!

I have lived in the black Hills of SD for 40 years, and yes we get hail a few times a year, and heavy winds several times a year. But you are safe here the other 350 days. The Black Hills has very welcoming weather a majority of the times, excluding some winter days.

I grew up in SD. Sturgis is gorgeous in the Fall. Lived in Sioux Falls for 9 years and still have friends and family. Oh hail, ya just roll with it. Not so much any more with temp warming, but we've had -90F with wind chill a few times, -40F many times. When it's-90, you cannot breathe outside. Certainly you should not.

Lol I’ve lived in South Dakota my entire life, so I expected something pretty extreme, since we actually had baseball sized hail this year, but had to giggle by what I saw. We definitely wouldn’t even wake up for that.😮 I’m on the eastern side, and we spend 2 weeks a month, May thru Sept, in our RV, on a lake, in the area, However, we deal with horrid hot/humid weather in the Summer, with lots of bad storms that entail anything from tornadoes and hurricane strength straight lined winds, to, like I said, baseball sized hail, and even dirt storms called, haboobs, which are really nuts. Google that if you haven’t seen one. I always say, never travel across S.D. In the afternoon during the Summer, because I’ve gotten caught in a real tornadic storm on I-90, & that was the scariest thing ever! I’ve been through a LOT living here too. There’s nowhere to go for shelter, so travel early. Hope you loved our great state!! Come back soon! God Bless!! 🙏🏼👍

Back in that era, of the 1870's, that place, and others like it, are really known for: "Booze, Brothels, & Bullets".....😂 Can you imagine.....how they lived? And all of society, today, is spoiled to laziness, spoiled to convenience, running water, paved roads, toilets, refrigeration, and fast food, etc. Actually, it would good to remember how little human beings can do for themselves compared to how human beings survived & thrived back in those days. It's sad that society didn't carry the ethics, dignity, morals, self-respect, and pride of accomplishment that our ancestors had in achieving their goals and dreams. Anywsy....hubby & I are now looking to visit Deadwood because of your AWESOME video. So much info on things to do, places to see, and and how wonderful the people of Deadwood are! Deadwood's Chamber of Commerce & South Dakota's tourism should hire you two to create a "Visit SD/Deadwood" advertisement, as your enthusiasm would draw folks to visit SD/Deadwood. Your humor & enthusiasm....and your AWESOME videography skills really drew us in. Heck....you could even edit this video down to an advertising video, by using the highlights (there's so much to see).....so much to do and see here! LOVE IT!!❤❤❤

That's a pretty light hail storm for Lead/Deadwood! Worst I experienced when I lived there was busted out car windows and about $20k damaged to one of our cars. Looked like snow drifts of ice chunks, sounded like the building we took shelter in was going to come down. Those nasty storms can be intense in the black hills 🤣

P.S. I commented on someone else’s comment, but since I live here in South Dakota and am in the Black Hills often, I wanted to leave my vote for Best Burger!! And I’m very confident that the absolute Best Burger in the Hills, will be found at, “The Sled Haus!” Located in Lead, S.D, just a couple minutes up the road from Deadwood. If you haven’t eaten there, it’s worth an entire trip, to anyone who reads this. But the food is good everywhere, because it’s so bitter cold 🥶 in the Winter, we have plenty of time to perfect our recipes. And where else can you get a good buffalo burger?!🍔😊👍🌻

Rainy, thanks, you’re making us hungry! We had awesome burgers in Lead at the Boar’s Nest, so The Sled Haus must be amazing! We loved the area and hope to make it back soon. Have you lived in South Dakota you’re whole life?
@RainyJo715
2 жыл бұрын
@@LetsTurnItUpWorld Haha, it made me hungry to mention The Sled Haus, as well, and I’m several hours away! Lol Actually, we lived in South Dakota when I was born, then my family moved just barely across the border to Northwest Iowa, so that’s where I went to school. Then I moved back at the end of my last year of school, and I’ve never left again. I raised my two daughters here, and now we’re empty nester’s, with two dog’s for children. We spend lots of weekends in the Hills, and sometimes we go father into Wyoming or Colorado, but always stop back by our favorite places in Lead, Deadwood, and Rapid City, on the way back. We rarely ever drink or gamble, but it’s just such a great place to hang out, and we absolutely never get tired of site seeing, because there really is so much to see in the Black Hills, and tons of history. Kevin Costner had a restaurant/casino in Deadwood, which I would have also recommended, because it was so awesome! He had all of his costumes and memorabilia from every movie hanging on display in the restaurant, with tons of great pics that really told some stories. But it closed a few year’s ago, and it really was a huge loss, but Deadwood will always be a great place to visit. Just the history alone makes it very special.:) I’m so glad that you found some great food while you were here, and I really do hope that you come back again soon! It’s the kind of place where the beauty and charm just never get old.:) Take care out there, & God Bless!! 🙏🏼👍🌻
