Aleksey Potapov from the village of Novoshcherbinovskaya, Krasondarsky Krai, went to war to solve his financial problems. While earning money in Moscow, he had taken out microloans and had nothing to repay them with. So he decided to sign a three-month contract. He thought he would not take part in the fighting, but he was immediately sent to the front line. In an interview with Liubomyr Ferens, Aleksey told how he escaped after the defeat near Izyum, how he imagined his participation in the war, and how one can evaluate the decision to solve his personal problems at the expense of the Ukrainian people.
