you should see the cavitation you get on your lower unit when it hits your first log or rock .. you might wanna put small easy to shear off bolts through it just in case it happens.. ive seen the damage that they can do

My 2003 carbureted 9.9 will push my decked out Tracker Topper 1542 at 18mph and occasionally hit 19mph with the stock prop on ethanol free gas. The transom is 17" and it's almost too tall for my short shaft 9.9 but it runs pretty well in the #2 trim position after testing it.

Exact reason I bought a 2 stroke 9.9. me and my neighbor which is 258lbs my Evinrude will push my 12' Jon boat 19mph, and it weighs like 64lbs

Nice Bro!...but you lost your passenger about 1/2 way through the vid...Haha....But, on a serious note, she may add a few pounds to the boat, but being upfront allows the boat to get on plane a bit better increasing the Hydrofoils performance since you do not have fine adjustments on a "clamp on" style motor. Also, do another test with no wind, calm waters, rider in/rider out, and I bet you can squeek 15+ out of her... ;) Keep the vids rollin' my dude!

Funny you'd suggest this! This weekend I took it out solo and I was just short of 16mph! I got the best speed raising the motor up another 2" but I started sucking air so I need to make a spacer around 1" I think. I'm also going to be lowering the prop pitch 1" to gain some extra RPM. I think when I get the "sweet spot" I'll be 16mph+

Did you mount the hydrofoil backwards. Not trying to be funny but I’ve never seen someone mount it from the back instead of from the front. It’s supposed to stick out at least 4-5 inches from the propeller. Just a thought.

Hydrofoil was not mounted backwards, it actually has grooves in it that line up to the end of the cav plate so its installed in the correct location. Not a bad thought though, you never know!

I see you use a atv winch for anchor control . Can you operate it from the rear of boat . ? Do you need to manually shift for forward reverse at the motor winch ? . ( can you sit at the rear of boat and doo everything )

Nice video, I’m going to have to try the jack plate and hydrofoil, I have the same motor and i’m getting 6mph out of my v16 alumacraft but I just measured and my motor is sitting about 3 1/2” to low.

Love the boat. Just bought a 1436 and decked it. Is yours a 1436? And do you know who make that trailer is?

Awesome man, yeah it's a 1436 as well. I'm not sure exactly on the trailer, I'll take a look and let you know.

Maybe increase your prop pitch slightly too.

Your biggest problem with small fishing boats is weight. A 15 hp is a big improvement, or you could could become very critical of every non necessary # of stuff you don’t need.
@mvboutdoors

You are 100% right, a larger outboard would solve most issues and a 15hp would fit that boat very well. Sometimes you gotta work with what you have though!

That lake looks a little different with all the water. I went after draw down and it was insane the structure that was exposed. Seems like a great crappie lake in the spring!

I'll be honest I still haven't cracked it. I've fished so many laydowns with very little results. The word is they tend to be on deeper brush piles but I haven't found them yet! My best luck has come from around the bridge.

i have a sailboat, and have a short shaft 9.9 mercury, my problem is sometimes in choppy water seems like the propellers come out of the waves, this wouldn't help right?
@mvboutdoors

No not likely, do you perhaps need a long shaft motor?
