I like outboards. The big plus for me is safety………no engine in enclosed bilge with possibly fuel fumes and a spark. 🔥

Another great video Sean! One further pro for an outboard configuration is the additional storage space available inside the boat where the Inboard might have been sitting:)

I think reliability should also be considered. On average outboards will fail and need repair more often and those repairs in the first 5 years after the warranty expires will cost about 3 times as more then a sterndrive. Mercury sells a insurance product that you can buy, it's called MPP -- Mercury Product Protection. This is a little like an extended warranty, it just doesn't cover as many problems and has a deductible each time you use it. Mercury sets the price on these and because they sell both I/Os and O/Bs, we can compare how much they think the average repairs in the 5 years after warranty expires will cost them. 300 HP outboard 5 year MPP plan $8,460.00 300HP sterndrive 5 year MPP plan $2,700.00 That's more then 3 times the cost to insure the O/B then the I/O! Also you can buy a 7 year plan on I/Os but only a 5 year plan on O/Bs. Makes me wonder if the breakdowns and repair in years 6 and 7 are going to cost soo much that Mercury doesn't want to insure them?

I would choose outboard (although mine is i/o presently), for ease of winter-storage here in cold Ontario; and I can’t get over how the newer ones are whisper quiet! But to each their own. Great video once a plain. Thanks. 🇨🇦👍🏼
