The Department of Agriculture in the Western Cape has welcomed measures taken by the national government to curb the spread of the foot-and-mouth disease to the province. The measures which were gazetted by the national department of Agriculture, prohibit the movement of cloven-hoofed animals or by-products unless under the authority of a state veterinary permit.
