Diagnosed in 40’s with adhd & people that know me well are not surprised yet people from school say I don’t look like I have adhd 🤷🏻♀️ 😂 Think I’m also on the asd spectrum as although I don’t experience overwhelms as often as yourself when it does happen it’s awful. People assume it’s a temper tantrum 🙄 Leaves me feeling embarrassed, frustrated & exhausted physically & mentally. It’s a positive thing that they were accommodating once told about the autism. Understand the frustration though. Good luck with the meeting. Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we were all neurodivergent 🤜🏻🤛🏻

I actually do wear an autism T-shirt. Lol It says AUTISTIC AF on it. I find myself educating people about autism a lot, so in that way I'm very up front about my autism. I can see how it would be difficult for you since your job is educating people--you don't need to be doing that 24/7! ❤

It feels like they think you're entitled but relaying you have autism will automatically ruin your chance of getting it

Makes me think of when I'm in public with my sister who has Autism and she's doing her thing especially with her echolalia people look at her with that look. I just say say she's OK, she has Autism. But i got tired of having to say that. Why should i have to explain just because shes different? Aren't we all different? I just let it go unless someone actually picks on her. 2 years ago i got the first "Autism is an excuse for bad behavior" from someone. I bit my tongue because I could tell this lady had issues herself.
