They used their secret weapon, the “helpless Englishwoman” who became a Scot. Claire really used her Englishness to her advantage so many times lol

Yes, John was finally let in on the biggest secret of the Jacobite army, one of the most influential commanding officer’s wife and head of the medical corps is actually English turned Scot and uses her “helpless English lady” persona to their advantage on several occasions. His reaction to being conned and realizing the guy he was becoming friends with but held a grudge against for attacking said helpless English lady is actually a good guy who loved that lady with all his heart, is priceless lol I think he was less mad and more relieved that Jamie is actually a good guy, especially since it happened nearly a decade ago at this point and the dust had settled.

Of course he is gay, in that time period it was no simple matter, death penalty for sodomie. Because he was a lord; he was saved by his high up brother and only bannished to that hellhole. He could not know that Jamie had the worst experience of his live in that sence, anyway, hieir hands touching that way was an immediate trigger for Jamie. Bravo Sam for the marvelous facial acting. From a directing part of view, this very important scene was filmed with delicacy, good.

I think that John deserves to have been born in a later time. It’s a travesty that most of his contemporaries would view him as a degenerate - the very last thing he is.

I feel like up to this point there was always a small part of John that didn’t trust Jamie because of his attack of a “helpless English woman” when they met and his negative feelings towards people who do dishonorable things. So when he found out that that woman was actually Jamie’s beloved wife acting and that she wasn’t in any actual danger that day, he was relieved and could now say with certainty that Jamie was a good and honorable man deserving of his trust and respect.

Alright, ever since these two reunited I could feel the sexual tension. Of course from Jamie's side it's a broken man who parted with the love of his life, hence why he's so open and emotional. John Grey recently losing his friend, couldn't help but seek love to comfort himself, Jamie and his flashbacks of rape really brought the other side of Jamie.. ugh great writing. Very emotional scene, I cried.

John was sent there because he won a duel against a rival of his brother. One of the man's sons was killed, and he accused Lord John of murder. He had been electrocuted earlier in the day by touching an electric eel. All because he wanted to protect a young lady from becoming harmed by the eel. You can read this in the Lord John books.

In the Lord-John-Series, when Jamie is still in Helwater, Lord John says angrily something to him like "I could make you scream in bed!" and Jamie alomst punches him in the face. At that point, John highly suspects that Jamie was raped, but he doesn't know when or by whom.
