Great advice. Even if it's just a hobby, START a channel. I was in the same boat. I wanted to retire early, had a 5 year plan and then my position was eliminated. Lemonade from lemons, I retired early and moved to paradise in Thailand and my channel took off after just a month living here. Now it's brining a steady income, I'm making tons of new friends, and it keeps me busy shooting video of things I enjoy doing and sharing with others.

Hey Kevin, I started my channel in March 2024 at age 69. I love it. It's a legacy for my children. I don't have a niche; I post when I want to, I'm no beauty, but I get in front of the camera for every video, and my lighting is not good. I use my laptop to make my videos. I'm not pressured to be what someone wants me to be; I'm just me. You folks out there who want a KZitem channel...jump in; the waters are just fine!

1. EVERYONE hates hearing their own voice on a recording at first! That's because we've been listening to ourselves with the ears that are, well, attached to our heads! - Our voice comes from the inside. - Everyone else's voice comes to our ears from the "outside". That's why our own voice seems flat, strange, foreign and often higher then we're used to when we hear a recording of it. --> You'll get used to hearing yourself in your videos and soon become comfortable with it. 2. Resist comparing yourself to others. You are unique. 😊 Everyone is. Their circumstances and starting point are different. You start from yours and - just be you! OK. Now go and shoot your first video.

It's funny I ran out of a school class for fear of public speaking, now because of KZitem I am not afraid. I started during covid. I'm at it 4 yrs, and I'm 62 so for me, it's the best hobby I could add to my list. I love doing anything creative so this for me is about fun, I don't think I'll ever get money out of it, but who knows I'm creative so we will see how that end of it goes. I and hubby are retired, and he helps me so much he is a retired IT manager and programmer, so It's amazing to share it together. Right now he's recovering from surgery, but will be back soon. Hi Kevin, Your video caught my attention. I wanted to start a KZitem channel, I have some equipment and a lot of knowledge on certain subjects. I'm good with computers. However, I don't know anything about editing videos, how to start, and how to make it look good. And your video is encouraging. I will be 65 next month. I still want to teach what I know, but I live remote now, and teaching my kind of knowledge at home is not really an option. I also have a special needs person at home, and the funny thing is I'm also a seamstress, did costuming for 30+ years. Thank you for doing this, I will take your advice. I will check your other videos now for some help. But how to edit and make it look good is important to me.

I have been dragging my feet on starting for a few years now. I don’t know why but it’s like a blind spot when you’re driving. You can’t see it but you know it’s there… I am 64 years old and I don’t think I ever thought I had much to offer as far as life experience. It just never occurred to me that someone might be interested in what I have to say. I have a niche, although heavily saturated it’s what I love and am passionate about it. It’s my purpose for sure. Guitars, playing them building them fixing them collecting them, buying them, selling them, trading them, looking at them, talking about them is what I want to do and always wanted to but had to work. Somehow I was never able to make that a profession but always was more than just a hobby. I have found myself involved in several creative endeavors and find new opportunities or ideas that can be overwhelming at times. Your video kept appearing in my feed, I kept ignoring it until tonight. And now I have babbled on for way too long.

I started my KZitem channel just shy of me being 60 years old! ( 4 years ago now). I started a channel, posting videos to help encourage others to try out what I do for a full time living… reselling pre owned items! I am a full time flipper 😂 my channel was monetized in one month! I think there is a need for our mature voices in today’s world more than ever 💜 and here I am … just shy of 64 years old, 87,000 subscribers on KZitem ( making a full time income from Adsense) and still earning a living on eBay and facebook marketplace 💜 I have met hundreds of my subscribers in person thanking me for helping to encourage them.. I have also met my new husband in a thrift store!! Just amazing!

I started my YT channel at 59 or 60. I'm 70 now. I think it's easier for an over 60 guy to do a channel and not get slammed for looks. God, people are so catty about womens' looks. No matter how fabulous your content is. I like that you shoot and edit your own videos. I htink where I struggle is my channel has no focus. I'm a professional musician who plays the uke and sings older songs (20s - 70s). I do a few tutorials. Once in a blue moon, I'll talk about a specific ukulele. Once in a blue moon, I'll talk about equipment but I am no expert. I started my channel, really started it when I was diagnosed with cancer. I've had this long career and I didn't want to get "lost." Lost in memory, like I never existed. Then it's that I wanted to share "great American songbook" and beyond because so much of music nowadays (IMO) is crap. OK, so this is rambling but your video touched a chord, so to speak. Thank you. Subscribing.

And since then I have had multiple small businesses but about 10 years ago got involved with audio and video for my Minister at various churches over the last 10 years. I now have yet another talent and expertise to turn the camera around and just share the love with my community. Love pushing boundaries and just sharing my discoveries and life success tips, tricks and principles. Thanks for this video. Thanks for helping people. It's great because we are all in relationship. And love is the only thing that heals. Blessings my brother.
