Thanks for your response! Last night we did a written budget.I learned my husband spend way to much eating out! Like 300. $ per month for him and his co worker since own his own Hardwood Flooring Co. , the name of Nico 's flooring.Im try and make more home cooked meals or make at least 2 to 3 days worth of food and hopes he eats the food that I make and that he might like it.I also work part time at a resturant and on call as prep cook.

Happy New Year! I want to ask how your family handles pricey dental work? Aside from basic checkups that insurance will usually cover, how do you handle expensive dental work($1,500 plus). I find that going to the dentist sometimes feels almost like going to a mechanic. You don't always know what the problem may be, it costs more than you figured and they want all the money upfront. Dental offices now offer a medical credit card to handle expensive dental work and I want to avoid doing that. Do you guys suggest a sinking fund that you draw from for these situations? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

+everlastingcurves That's a great question and we'll cover these kind of details in more budget videos we're working on. Every paycheck we set aside money for medical expenses. It slowly accumulates over time. But in the case of expensive dental work that exceeds what we have in our medical expense account or HSA, we rely on pulling some money out of our emergency medical fund. Check out the following resources on our website for more indepth information. 1) We cover all of this in our America's Cheapest Family Budget System. 2) We've also recorded an audio seminar called: MoneySmart Health & Medical Benefits, you can read about here: www.moneysmartfamily.com/budget-moneysmart-health-medical-benefits-audio-download 34) A radio interview on medical expenses is here: www.moneysmartfamily.com/news/type/radio/grid-radio-moneysmart-medical

+Daniella Moreno praying that he will see the value of reining in his spending to reach your awesome goal. Working together toward a down payment using a written budget will become addictive as you see the money grow. Don't give up, if you can start putting some money aside, he'll start to see the value and get on board. Let us know how it turns out!

A long time ago I saw your kids having envelopes with wish. Do they put their extra money? How do they keep track? How do they spend? How do they save it?

+snowmanluv We called our kids and money envelope system "MoneySmart Kids." And all of our kids used it from the age of about 8 until about 17 or 18 . . . at that point then transferred into the budgeting system we talked about in this video. If you want to see the system in action (videos) and read more about the details, visit these pages on our website: 1) Money Smart Kids Kit: www.moneysmartfamily.com/moneysmart-kids-financial-training-kit 2) MoneySmart Family System book (different videos / more details): www.moneysmartfamily.com/moneysmart-family-book-info-page 3) Kids and Money overview page: www.moneysmartfamily.com/kids-money Thanks for asking. Hope that helps.

Could you guys figure a budget for those on a fixed income. I know there are some folks I know that could benefit from this & I could send them over...We're talking between $5-9000 annually...yes, there are folks who live on this & even less that I know

Ruth, Thanks for taking time to comment. Our budgeting system is a benefit to people of all income levels. It doesn't matter if it's fixed income or not, managing income and expenses so that you have an excess is always possible - the determining factor is how radical you want to be in pursuing living within your means. We do offer budget coaching for families, but those on lower income probably won't be able to afford it. Our first book combined with their motivation and discipline are probably the best option.
