I was surprised out how straight forward it all went. Only issue that I could see is if you struggle getting the fill plug out, but although tight, mine were no problem. Best of luck wi it 👍🏻

My mechanic said about my Audi A4 B7 that he doesn't recommend changing the manual gearbox oil as long as everything works, because changing the oil can trigger new problems. Mine has 301,000 kms or 187,000 miles.
@NorthCoastWorkshop

I'm not a qualified mechanic, so if your mechanic has advised that, then go with what he recommends 👍🏻 In my instance the oil that came out was definitely well used and a little contaminated so it benefited me in this instance, but as he says, if all is good with it currently, then there's no issue 😁👍🏻

New problems like?! This is ABSOLUTELY true of automatics, but I have quite literally no idea why he would conflate this advice with a manual where the oil has all to do with slip and nothing with grip?

@@Infinitpossibilities On 300k synchros can be worn, so after a gear oil change you can have difficulty getting into gears. Not being able getting from Reverse into First is the most common problem, so your mechanic doesn't want to take that risk and be responsible for a costly gearbox repair on a car that is on it's the way out. I changed my gear oil twice, on 60k and on 130k and had no problems.

😂I’m just wondering, logically LIFE TIME Is NO NO )* -- equally it’s like you know it will be RIP but you just let it be -- and Why there are some OE/OEM or even After marked OIL on EARTH ??? In the case of Dealer Mechanic or Garage Mechanic won’t change the bloody Transmision fluid is about the lucky day for us as owner , The best way is DIY with basic anything what out is anything must be in exactly )*

Not really, was more just for peace of mind that it was done and good for another 30,000 miles or so 👍🏻

Putting that tissue in the fill hole makes me nervous. All you'd have to do is push the hose forwards and it would be pushed into the gearbox.
@NorthCoastWorkshop
5 күн бұрын
Yeah, that could happen in some instances. To be honest the hose wouldn't really go in any further. A bit of cloth may be better though, to hold the hose still, with more excess hanging out to grab onto, or a proper oil pump container. They tend to be fairly cheap nowadays 👍🏻 Cheers for watching.

hi hi i also have seat leon 1.9 tdi .i have a question how did you do that with that led strip in the door and how did you connect that to closed groedjes john
@NorthCoastWorkshop

It's quite hard to explain the led strip, but I'm hoping to do a full video on how to install it and wire it up to the car. The light strip itself is from eBay, just search - 'car led strip rope lights' 👍🏻

They are linked onto 2 wires for the window switch, using a special connector. But yes all will be explained and shown in detail for which wires to use 👍🏻

Thought it was "sealed for life"! BTW seems there's no washers or gaskets on the plugs. Is this correct, to ensure a proper seal?
@NorthCoastWorkshop

Yeah, no washers were on the plugs previously either when the garage did my clutch. When torqued up they seem to make a proper tight seal by themselves 👍🏻
@Infinitpossibilities

Beware “Sealed for life” advice from manufacturers; this usually means it will last until your new car warranty has expired, nothing more. A gearbox will go on for years with old oil in it - doesn’t mean it’s a good idea in the longer term. Another good example is this long life oil crap Audi dealers pedal…..bad idea. Longlife oil for a regular, standard change however is great as it has extra cleaning agents in it

@@Infinitpossibilities - Well I can see why an oil subjected to great heat, as in the engine block, would break down with age & get contaminants dumped in it. But why would gearbox oil be affected by either?
@Infinitpossibilities
4 ай бұрын
@@Benzkneessorry; you think a gearbox doesn’t get hot? There is some serious pressure going on in there….and contamination? I would say so….especially if that oil has been in there a good while, more filings than carbon I would think; but I don’t think the oil he just drained started out black…..do you?

How's this gearbox oil been seeing as it's not the genuine one. As everyone says non genuine makes the box crunchy when cold?

It's been perfect to be honest mate, I notice no difference in how it feels cold Vs once I've driven for 15mins. I was very conscious that it was a slight risk not getting the VW stuff, but happy to say it's all good so far 👌🏻
