In this video, I'm building an overhead camera arm for my workshop. The tripod I have is relatively small so whenever I'm filming here I often make shots where you don't really see what I'm doing so I cover it with my hands or body as often the tripod is to the side.
A while ago I saw my friend Emiel, The Practical Engineer (kzitem.info/rock/bU6..., building one such arm for his workshop so I decided to build one for my self.
The arm is built out of 3, 1-meter long aluminum scare tubes with dimensions of 2cm x 1cm.
At the end, there is a swivel camera ball joint that has a phone holder attached to it and it allows me to orient the camera in practically any direction while filming. The top part can rotate freely so it has an awesome range of motion for any shoot I might need.
