The Georgia Traverse is located in Northern part of Georgia stretching East to West almost 400 miles. While the Georgia Traverse is comprised mostly of easy rated trails, the overall route is considered moderate. A moderate trail means your All-Wheel-Drive should be able to complete the trail in ideal conditions, but 4x4 with a lift, larger tires, sliders, bumpers, skid plates and a winch are highly recommend to avoid damage. Keep in mind that trail ratings are approximate, an easy trail can be difficult or even impassible if the weather conditions are not favorable. Portions of the Georgia traverse are closed for winter, we recommend calling the ranger districts listed in the link below for current trail conditions and status.

This video is provided as an overview and for historical purposes rather than step-by-step navigation instructions. Trail conditions can change at any time. Contact the Bureau of Land Management or the Forest Service for current conditions. OverlandTrax recommends using a GPS device (Not your smartphone) along with GPS tracks from professional trail guide services. We also suggest taking detailed paper maps just in case your digital navigation fails. As with any adventure, conditions can change dramatically. Please check conditions before attempting a trail and be ready to turn back if conditions are not favorable.
