Thanks heaps mate, I just picked up my new second-hand Scrambler (6000ks) Only went for my first spin on it today down into the Northern Rivers. Did about four hundred ks and felt it could a bit of setting up so loved you vids on suspension setup, I didn't realise how little I knew. I have come over from long term Harley and old Brit bike ownership to something a bit more versatile and less serious. I've always been a home spanner turner and always looking at ways to save a few bucks. Thanks again for the time ya putting into this

Nice! The northern rivers is an awesome spot - grew up in lennox head, so I go back down there whenever I can cos there’s some awesome onroad/off-road riding around there! Glad to hear the bikes going well, and I think I missed explaining how to set front fork preload - it’s the 19mm nut on top of the forks - but there’s a bit of a trick with measuring the sag so I’m gonna have to do another video 😅

I'm surprised that the sump guard doesn't cover the Oil filter, on the 900 scrambler it covers it full.

Good videos, thanks. What oil did you use. The reason I ask is because in the triumph manual it says you can use full or semi synthetic, 10W50 or 10W40. Pretty broad selection I thought.

No worries! I hope it was useful. I use full synth 10w40 and yeh new bikes are usually pretty tolerant of a range of oils, 10w40 synth is my go to for sure

In the Manual if I'm not mistaken, 10W50 is more advisable for hot Climates.

great videos!!! I see you didnt burn our hand with the oil, so did you not heat the oil first?? the warmer the more dirty oil will get out

Thanks! No, I’ve always been taught by mechanics to do it cold, as all the oil has made its way back to the sump to drain out - I have recently seen some people doing it hot, but I haven’t done enough research to figure out if that’s better or worse for the bike and overall oil change as yet, so I’ll probably take a look into it and update if it works out better

@@lifeofascrambler Hi Josh, thanks for your quick response. Cold oil is thick as honey, its viscocity gets much much thinnner as temperature rises, if you see the graphics of viscocity @100 C versus at @40 or colder say 15 C and we are talking 6 to 10 times thinner as it reaches working temperature... so it makes sense if you oil and engine are at working temp and you allow it to sit for ten to 15 minutes it will find its way to the sump too and still be rather hot and will flush out more fluidly... who knows how much difference it will make compared to cold.... I now own a KTM 1290 adv S and my son has the street scrambler 900... and Im really considering the scrambler 1200 still not made up my mind if the xc or the xe, I´v read the XE has a stiffer rear suspension and I prefer a softer one for my back...

Have you ever smashed that filter? Or did you find a guard that goes long enough to protect it?

I was actually thinking about this the other day - I haven’t ever smashed it. Plenty of off-road but not a heap of situations with big debris or logs etc. it seems they have either lucked out or perfectly engineered the bash plate to reduce the potential for oil filter strikes - not sure if that’s because most possible strikes come from the front or 🤷🏻♂️

Oh, and yeh I’ve noticed plenty of scratches and dirt on the filter when I change them

Damn, that change to a brown seet is like $400. It does make the colors softer, I dig it.

Thanks! Yeah its much cheaper than a whole seat if you just get the cover done, plus its really good quality.

@@lifeofascrambler I didn't know triumph also sold only the cover. Good to know. Now I can abuse my seat without feeling as bad hehehe.
