I climb up 1000 feet of elevation through deep snow to stay in a cabin on the summit of a mountain near Lake Tahoe! We see the effects of the blizzard that came through earlier that day and enjoy the solitude and beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Wow Jack, amazing adventure! I totally get what you mean about being moved by the beauty of nature and that resonating with other parts of your life. I had that last when my late Darling and I approached a place in NZ called Arrowtown- the mountains that cradle the town are called The Remarkables, and they truly are! Always good to be sincerely grateful 🙏, love how you share that with us. Hope the rest of trip to Rylie's folks was awesome, Ellie will be happy to see you. Love to you all from NZ.

This was wonderful, Jack, thank you. I remember that storm, the weekend before last! We lucked out here in the San Bernardino mountains of Socal above 6,000 feet - we just got rain. But in the Sierra Nevadas on May 4th, they received the most snow in one day this year - over 26 inches! Yup, I definitely would have opted for snowshoes or even cross country skies for that trek. I've carried a heavy backpack through deep snow where I was tent poling up to mid thigh every step. Nothing fun about that! Gorgeous drone shots and breathtaking scenery! I know it's a ways from Minnesota, but maybe you'll be able to return with your family sometime in the future when it's summer or fall. Blessings to you, Rylie, Olivia and Ellie.

WOW Jack that was beautiful. "Call of the Wild." You hit the Bonanza motherload 🏔 with that view. There was no danger of fire 🔥 that day. You could see the Ponderosa from up there. Snowshoes ❄️ would have been a blessing. You struggled getting up to the cabin. Poor old Ellie 🐕 would have collapsed in that climb. Better she stay at home 🏡 for another adventure. California is amazing, you have big cities like LA and SF, then you have the valleys, wine country, beach cities, and then places like the beautiful Sierra Nevada (Lake Tahoe), etc. Then my favorite, Sausalito. Just so many different beautiful environments. 2 hours from the desert, 2 hours from snow, 2 hours from the beach, all depending where you live. That’s why I LOVE California.
