Hi everyone, i have a few things to add to this review. First of all, i am not a surfer. Have never surfed on water before. Secondly, i have been surfskating with Yow for 3 months, with asurfskate trainer who taught me 10 classes total. Thirdly, i am just a customer who bought the Andromeda system to put it with my existing deck and wheels. I tried it and it is not as difficult as i thought. I am a 6 feet man who uses longer wheelbase. For Yow, using longer wheelbase limits the turning raDius to be quite wide. For this truck system, i can turn narrow even with longer wheelbase. If you do not wriggle with your feet and uses your shoulder as the driving force. You will have no problem. I also installed Ovni’s hard spring and bushings as i am quite a heavy person. I find the system very enjoyable to use. I think it is perfect for taller person who need to use longer wheelbase but wants a narrow turning radius. Only Swelltech and Ovni offers this. But you need to use the right technique. The finish quality of the product can be improved though.

I gave the Ovni Andromeda trucks a try, I quite like them but there are definitely some quirks. First, buying them you have to email and paypal the owner in Brazil? I found that a bit sketchy... Quality is not up to Yow/Carver level, but seems to be holding up fine so far. And I could care less for the rear trucks. All that aside - if you throw a ("waterborne style") rail/lean adapter under the rear truck, you get one of the most surfy and tuneable setups available. The front truck is so loose that playing with bushings in the rear gives a huge range of how it rides/carves - it is the only setup I have where you can tune the board for lots of lean with a wider radius turn, making it my favourite setup for carving at higher speeds. It is probably the closest feel I can get to powder snowboarding - where you have enough lean at speed that you can carve with your weight straight through your feet instead of pressuring one edge of the deck.

I remember seeing them in Brazil last year but was not convinced to work with them. The surfskate category is booming globally, but in Brazil there are so many knock-offs and intents of replicating/improving what Carver has done. Great work btw, pretty spot on with the analysis of different brands and constructions. Yow & Carver are the overall best in my opinion; smoothstar is great too but unfortunately the quality of the parts (cheap wood, trucks) are the main drawback. The mechanism is great however the spring becomes shabby very quickly; the assembly is a nightmare for someone with no patience.

I can say that I saw these surftrucks born and learned to surf them. Only ANDROMEDA is difficult for me. ORION and SIRIUS were developed for beginners and intermediates, based on my skills or lack of skills. I had never been on skateboards or surfskates. What is your purpose in making these criticisms, since you are not even a surfer? You say it is information to help form an opinion, but you impose your deformed opinions. This is dishonesty disguised in honesty.
@SurfskateLove
3 жыл бұрын
First of all, in fairness you really ought to reveal the fact that you’re the wife of the creator, so people understand that you have a vested interest. Secondly, you can see a list of all the surfskates I have ridden here, so you know my frame of reference in riding your trucks: www.surfskate.love/post/top-surfskate-brands Thirdly, I explain very clearly what my purpose is. Anyone who watches my channel knows I’m not a surfer. And most of my viewers are non-surfers as well. My purpose is to help people save time, money, and hassle in choosing the right surfskate for them. None of us non-surfers care about replicating the feel of surfing. I honestly don’t even know why you have a beef with my review because all I do is say that your claims are 100% correct - which therefore means that your trucks are not for non-surfers. I would never recommend your trucks to non-surfers. They are very unstable and no fun to ride at all. There are so many other trucks on the market that are so much better for non-surfers. And again, given that your stated claim is that your trucks are all about surf training, why do you even care about my review? The people watching my channel aren’t even your market. Your market is clearly surfers. So instead of taking issue with my review, go market your trucks to surfers who might appreciate them. And just like your husband, instead of staying with facts, what you do is go straight to cheap, childish insults. (Which by the way, after my bizarre experience with your husband, is exactly what I expected from you two when I published this review.) You say I “impose my deformed opinions.” What I actually do is: 1. State clearly up front that I’m not a surfer, and therefore cannot make any commentary on your claims around surfing. All I can say is how these feel and ride to me. 2. Walk people through a logical and honest experience, which doesn’t criticize your truck at all, but rather just demonstrates how they ride. 3. Finish with an invitation to surfers to try your trucks. So as I said, why do you even care about my review? You're afraid non-surfers -- for whom your trucks aren't even designed and you even say this -- aren't going to buy your trucks? Really? That's what this is about? You make trucks for surfers. A non-surfer does a review and says your trucks aren't great for non-surfers. And you take issue with it? You two are so damn funny to me. Good luck!
@thelart

@@SurfskateLove I have to disagree, because I am not a keelboard surfer, but a beginner bodyboarder. And I learned to ride with OVNI, and a lot of people do, including children. It is not true what you say that beginners cannot ride with OVNI. And a lot of people have fun. You didn't like it, okay. But it is not the absolute truth, nor can it be said that it is not for beginners. Only that. If you don't like people to disagree with you, then don't give public opinions. Everyone is subject to this. I am criticizing your criticism.
