My Dad taught me that you should learn something new every day & doing owner assisted inspections will teach you a lot. It is great to have a mechanic that will share their knowledge. I know nothing about aircraft but I find this interesting to follow, along with the other skills you share with us.

Owner assisted annuals have many advantages. You learn more about your aircraft and how it operates and there are cost savings usually realized. If you get a mechanic that charges the same for an owner assisted or standard annual/or 100hr then avoid them like the plague.

lol well i tried to do the owner assited anuual on my cessna p337 andmy bellanca turbo viking. never doing it again. i got grease under my fingernails and got my hand stuck on the rear motor mount. and i mean stuck that was on the p 337 4 years ago, now? i sit in my recliner. take a nap and ask are you done yet? not worth it. the viking is packed tight with engine and turbo and lots of wires and hoses.. many years ago i could do it no problem, older i get? the lazier i get.

Have you looked into the owner/maintenance category….I believe the only real downside is you can’t go into the USA

As someone who just randomly came across your video, I'm inclined to hit the thumbs down and here's why. The title of the video partially is "is it worth while". Well, you only gave the knowledge portion of the question. You didn't answer what the cost would have been for a full A&P annual versus the owner assisted. Or, how many hours did you spend on your portion. If I make more an hour than the A&P, it doesn't make sense for me to do the owner assisted if I already have the working knowledge.

@@BoeWalls it wasn’t so much as the cash savings which there was, but I found the real value in getting to know my aircraft better. It was about 2 days of actual work.

Careful with RVs. Little pocket rocket with no glide🫢. I prefer flying the P51 C. Mustang.😎

I think I’d prefer that too. But I think the glide ratio can’t be much worse than my 150 🤔

That was a great video. I fly in planes, never flown a plane and I’m not much of a mechanic so that was great fun to learn something new.

Your effort to learn the mechanical system of this aircraft will be very helpful as you plan and construct the new project. Having a professional support system so close by to offer advice and guidance is worth a bundle! Use ‘em at every turn. They want to be part of your success. 🇨🇦
