Most vehicle manufacturers have gone down this route, nothing is built to last nowadays, unlike decades ago. History proves that Japan studied other countries products and made them better basically, hence why many British motorcycle manufacturers went bust back in the day. Well, with those old BMWs my experience is: Everything brakes except the things you need to move. So, even when the car has technical difficulties, you can somehow make it - or you can improvise some repairs that can carry you to the next workshop, or 4,000 km away to Istanbul.

There are two types of BMW owners: kids/men acting like kids who can't figure out how to do basic maintenance and drive around with blinged out beaten out shoddy falling apart BMWs with ugly aftermarket "upgrades" and then there are those people who just enjoy a good car and never have any problems because they take care of what they own. You skimp out on the quality of replacement parts, you don't do oil changes, you don't switch parts when they start breaking but wait until they fail completely and take other parts with them, then you got no right to blame the brand. Cars are only ever as reliable as they are treated.

Not disagreeing, your right I do agree that the average person doesn’t know how to take care of their care and doesn’t bother to and it definitely causes a lot of issues that shouldn’t happen in the first place… BUT the fact of the matter is old beamer’s are a good bit more likely to have issues in the first place compared to other brands like Toyota or Honda. Yes BMW’s require more maintenance than other brands to be reliable, but that’s the thing.. they require stricter maintenance… therefore they are more expensive to own still
