Good video; I can attest this is a great oscilloscope for the money - at the same ballpark as the "toys" DSO138, etc. but extremely well polished.

@@hossammoghrabi1021 I bought 7 VDS1022s and 1 VDS1022I for a robotics camp I'm setting up. Have you noticed the alternative software that runs on Macs and under Linux? That was a big selling point for me because I'm sure my campers will have many different "flavors" of laptops.

I use official software but people have a github of custom software, maybe you could look at it. this scope is incredible for the money. mere 100$ gives you a really nice scope. good luck with your camp.

Thanks, for this video. I have this model as well and I was wondering if it is normal that, if you look at the test square signal @8:18 there is a blur on the top of the square and also same at the bottom part. The line is not straight/clear, but it is blurred, a few pixels thick... I was expecting that if you measure a test square signal that you see a clear signal and not a blurred one...

i don't think it can but i never tried it since i only have one scope. if you need 2, like 4 channels, then get one 4 channels scope.

I read your eev journey when you were searching for an offer and did not get what you had hoped for due to shipping and custom fees. As a newbie (got my first last week and it was a hantek 6022BL which does not have ac coupling which I was not aware of cause I had thought that each and everyone would have that) I am asking if I need that USB isolated one or not cause I will rarely use it beyond the solar power inverter. What I can tell so far is that my 5year old full metal build android 6 tablet ifive mini with 8 inch is working damn well with the USB oscilloscope cause it still runs over 3 hours supplying itself and the oscilloscope . And the hscope software works like a charm - I also got a 100x probe. So I can live with the black box design of such USB scope and therefore would sell my hantek to 6022 BL to get a owon which usually gets better reviews than the fnirsi and hantek at least in the desktop area. And the hantek 6022BL 20 Mhz claim is fake, it is barely able to deliver 1 Mhz measurements right, so just 5% of what they had promised. Also Owon seems to work stronger on their own software and firmware developement, which are the foundation of any app like hscope. But do I need the 1022i USB isolated version for measuring mainly 230V pure sine waves and some RC model air plane flight control stuff ? thx

My problem with the Hantek is that it's triggering is in software. This means that it can't do single-shot triggering at anything close to its maximum sampling rate.

this is one of the reasons i wanted to make this review! this scope is a lot better than the hantek and other chinese ones. i think you should get the isolated one simply because it is a lot better and safer for so little money difference. my recommendation is that you sell the hantek and get a better scope. if you have enough money then buy regular desktop scope like 1054z, but if you don't then absolutely get this one! i am really amazed that you look into my posts on eevblog! makes me feel like i am an important celebrity xD thanks friend!

@@Thundertronics TOTALLY agree with your comparison of the Owon and the Hantek. But for some reason, there are LOTS of reviews and mentions of the Hantek and only a few for the Owon. Maybe this is because the Hantek is a bit cheaper, but this is one case where the price difference is definitely worth it! I also tried the Loto OSC482 (also sold as the Clequee C520), but it has the about the same specs and the same software trigger limitation of the Hantek. Unfortunately, I tried the Owon third, but at least I figured out the one that works best before I bought enough for my budding robotics camp. I now have a total of 25 of the Owon, in various versions - mostly the VDS1022, but a few of the VDS1022I, and also some of the Multicomp PRO MP720017 sold by Newark, which seems to be EXACTLY the same as the VDS1022I, but with a different label.

What is the MAX sample Shot trigger 1. RATE 2. Samples 3 BITS ?
@ajlenze8

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but it does do single-shot (also called single sequence) triggering at it's maximum sample rate of 100 MSps. Also, it's an 8 bit scope.

I think that when you get up to that price level, I would just get a true bench scope. Check out the learnelectronics KZitem channel - he's reviewed a BUNCH of low-priced bench scopes. They're pretty much all 1 Gigisample/second, although that's shared between the two channels.

@@gheorghemoraru634 I can verify that Newark sells a version under the brand name multicomp PRO. The MP720017 is functionally identical to the VDS1022I and works with the same software. It comes in a plain brown box, but the words "PC Oscilloscope" are even printed with the exact same font.
