Discovered Owsley just a bit ago thanks to Spotify. I grew up through the 80's and 90's and can't believe I never heard of him before. His first album is one of the best things I've ever heard and live, he was absolutely fantastic. So sad how is life was cut short but I'm so thankful we have such great music.

As his friend, his suicide was crushing and preventable. My former employer rescued him the night before, but neglected to call for help and contibuted to the death of my dog 2 months later .He was uplifting, but a change in meds was catastophic.

Why was there not more attention brought to him?? Even after he died, I’ve struggled to find even posts in regards to his life, or death. I know it’s a private matter and certainly a disheartening one(words can’t explain), but considering his incredible talent and the circumstances surrounding his death, I figured things would have gone in a similar direction to what happened with Elliott Smith? Look, for the record, I’m not trying to sound all inconsiderate and intrusive to a musicians personal life and sudden appreciation that comes after one passes away. It’s just I’ve only recently fallen in love with his music and I’m so surprised with the lack of, if any, published, and/or archived material out there. There’re so many greats who seem to go just as under appreciated:/

100% agree. Just found him 2 months ago. So you can imagine my mind is still absolutely blown by his music and his story. That self titled album is perfect.

I am privy and a close friend. It was a change in meds and my former employer that resulted in his death. He prevented his suicide the night before, but broke the law in not reporting it.The next night Owsley succeeded .I am still not over it.

I have always wanted someone to post a video showing how to play On No The Radio. Sadly, it's too late to ask Will Owsley to do it. He does have a short video showing how to play Coming Up Roses. Is Oh No The Radio (the CD version) in standard tuning? Does anyone know?

I didn't think that can watch his playing! I wished I were there...
