Haven't watched yet but thanks for vid, I went into BCF today and asked the dude "what is the smallest swag you have, I wanna fit it on a bike?" and he said "ah you want a biker swag" and he kept saying biker swag, I thought he was taking the piss out of me lol, when I asked what the model name was he was like "biker swag" and suddenly I was way less offended lol

Years ago, on my regular 1,100 two day motorcycle commutes, I took an inflatable mattress and a pump. Took up a little more room on my motorcycle than I would have liked but never regretted it at night 🌌. You spend 8 hours asleep but sometimes in the other 3-4 hours of darkness, relaxing on it while reading a book, playing a handheld computer games, etc., you’ll be glad you made the decision.

I bought one... but it didn't work for me as a side sleeper who rolls from left to right during the night. Ok if you sleep on your back I expect.

I’ve got a similar small motorcycle swag and am also a side sleeper, added a self inflating mattress and also a closed cell foam mattress and was very comfortable, even with the rolling around, just something you have to get used to

It's a $10 Kmart cheapie.

@@quadcam24vThese inflatable cheapies are actually good value, even if they last only a week. I wouldn’t recommend them for a 30 day touring camp on a motorcycle but on short commutes, definitely worth the money and the chance that one day it will go as flat as a pancake 🥞.

If you're ditching the foam mattress, why not just buy a bivy sack. A bivy would cost you half the price as the swag. Very strange to buy a swag if you aren't using the mattress.

It’s a big lump of luggage for not a lot of space. I have a three man hiking tent that’s half the size packed and five times the size pitched. It’s completely waterproof and will stand up in gales force wind. I just don’t get these bulky, heavyweight miniature tents (swags). The only outlandish speculation I can give is that it’s an Australian thing!!!

thicker canvas+less volume inside tent=warmer in winter. Quick to pack down and set up too.

@@tientruong2007 Canvas is undoubtedly thicker and much heavier. I’ve camped in the snow in my hiking tent without any issues due to the cold. Its extra space was great for getting in and out of winter gear. And even when it’s wet, taking it down and packing it away, the additional weight due to being wet is negligible. Not so with canvas. I accept many people like their swags (I have one for the grandkids), but they are only really a consideration at home or camping from a car in a campsite. I’ll throw ours in when we go camping towing the trailer. When I need to stay warm I will rely on a good sleeping bag (swag or hiking tent). Each to his own and I trust you will continue to enjoy your swag and I hope you do.

If you swap out the mattress for a self inflating it takes out a majority of the bulk, the benefit of the swag is you can roll up your mattress, sleeping bag, pillow and any other bedding in a nice bedroll and makes a great backrest

@@tientruong2007 takes me five minutes to take down my 3 man hiking tent and I can walk away with it. I lived and used it in the UK not during winter, but in Spring and Autumn. Warm as toast down to almost zero temperatures with a good compact sleeping bag and mat that can also be rolled up in minutes and packed an a pannier.

@@christianmarth9989 then cart it away with you using a wheel barrow to get it to the bike. I. Am of course being facetious, but it is a big lump of kit for no extra comfort benefit. Great for the car, robust and yes easy to put up and pull down. Not much easier than a lightweight hiking/biking tent though. I’d rather spend the extra minute or two and save the weight and space. Each to their own though and I do like the swag ethos.
