Miss Bingley and Mr Darcy: (upon entering) We are cool, elegant, and refined. We float above the rabble. Bow down, peasants... Mr. Bingley: Ooh, a party! This seems nice. Oh, hello. And hello to you too! Oh, I like that fellow's hat. What a pleasant way to spend an evening.

You pegged Mr. Bingley perfectly! I had a good laugh! He really is a sweet character. Jane did very well for herself. I always felt Mrs. Bennett did Mary a disservice. She would have been a very conscientious wife for Mr. Collins. I have wondered many times if Jane and Lizzie found good matches for Mary and Kitty. Unfortunately, Lydia got exactly whom she deserved!

@@akgwriting9481 It’s amazing how I think of these characters as people I knew but lost touch with years ago. I wonder how their lives turned out, how many children and grandchildren Lizzie and Darcy have, did Bingley’s sister catch a Mr. Darcy for herself? Whenever I see one of the movies, regardless of which one, I find myself worrying about Mary and her outcome. I think it is because of the five girls I identify with her most of all. In my mind, I was not intelligent and stimulating like Elizabeth, beautiful like Jane, vivacious and outgoing like Lydia or funny and quirky like Kitty (the description of Kitty in Wikipedia is unnecessarily harsh; perhaps I should reread the book). I have always been a plain Jane, but not the Jane of this story unfortunately! and knew from a young age I better attach myself to the first man who came along least he be the only one! My mother was perhaps a little too like Mrs. Bennett in making sure we saw what everyone else saw when we looked in a mirror. There was no bolstering egos in our household! I learned from her example and did the opposite with my daughters. Fortunately ugly skipped generations and they turned out as pretty as their grandmother would have wished! Bolstering egos was not necessary but I did it anyway. I didn’t want anyone falling through a crack.

Wanna dance this? Then get the music from the P&P 2005 original soundtrack entitled "Meryton Assembly" and make 5 couples/pairs. Actually, you can make your own variations depending on the number of couples or the counting of the steps. As for us, we did 5 couples and imitated the steps in the vid. It worked perfectly-flawlessly with the 1-min music from the soundtrack, and with 5 couples, everyone gets to go back to their original positions as the music ends instead of random. Cool huh? Enjoy!

It'd be marginally higher according to the UK inflation calculator set on 1797. Not a whole lot really, but £10,00 would be an equivalent to £126,471.48/$164,318.05 in today's market. The average general practitioner makes a median salary of £171,00/$223,000 per year. Darcy, buddy, get off the high horse. That, however, does put Georgiana's inheritance at roughly £3,794,144/$4,872,027 for inflation. Wow. My guess is they just invested well, had some impressive savings, and had some lucrative businesses - tenants, agriculture, etc - that, for some reason, doesn't necessarily play into Darcy's yearly gross so much as the estate itself. 🤷♀️ I don't know how this all works though. It's really interesting to see how money played out back then.

It's more about relative wealth. Darcy's unearned income is about a thousand times the lowest wage. So today's UK minimum wage is @£20,000 per year. Darcy therefore is pulling £20 million a year.

If it was like Darcy and Elizabeth - sure; but, believe me you wouldn't want that. Back then, many men would already be being with other women before getting married, and then even keep seeing them and going further whilst being married. Also, most women were made to get married too young, and we can easily guess that that wouldn't mean true love at all.
