The grease trick with the spring and pin in the P365 manual safety works like a charm, having dropped my safety twice. In one instance the pin came free but I found it. The spring stayed in the safety. I found when cutting the reliefs for the thumb safety that using a Dremel with a chainsaw sharpening bit worked well for corse removal. I used a cutting jig as a guide. Then I trimmed the module with a drywall knife and used a needle file to finish. It worked perfectly. I also found with a current production P365 accepted the safety more easily than my early production P365 SAS. Very pleased with the results, so thank you for the videos.

The grease trick is one of the most important steps in the process. I can’t tell you the times that I lost the spring or detent and had to use a large magnet to find them.

If you remove the safety will the FCU still work with grip modules that are made for an FCU with a safety?
@SIGMECHANICS
7 ай бұрын
Yes, unlike the P320 which would have a pin the single construction of the P365 lever means you would just have a hole there.
@mr12gauger

Does the other grip module provide any other benefit other than no holes? If not, I may just 3d print a cover to slip on.
@SIGMECHANICS
Ай бұрын
No other benefits to be had so a 3D modelled part would work great for this application. If I recall It’s actually something that I’ve seen done before (for the P320). If I get some time I will make one and release it for download.

I’m not sure if this was answered but I purchased a 365 w/ a safety and want to attach the x lower for a larger grip and no manual safety. Does this affect the functionality of the firearm. I carry concealed and don’t want to do anything that could be dangerous. Thank you! Great video

There is absolutely no consequence to removing the safety, the P365 is specifically designed to allow that sort of modularity.

I haven’t tried that but I don’t really see an issue. It’s not like the P320 that requires that you replace the levers with a pin (that can fall out), the P365 is a solid part.

@SIGMECHANICS Just purchased my first P365 now that it is on the Cali roster. I'm considering doing a delete so that I can buy a Tan Wilson Combat grip module as they only come in non saftey versions. In your opinion, are there any downsides to this delete? Will it really make it less safe in any way? My glock 19 has a trigger safety, so I'm used to the only safety being the trigger, but it's still a safety. Your thoughts?
@SIGMECHANICS
10 ай бұрын
@kotaman232 no change to the safety, it’s really just a preference. Keep in mind that with a dremel, you could just as easily add the cutout to any grip you want! If you like the trigger safety, there is a company that just came out with one for the 365 (Intellifire by Agency Arms).

If we cut the right side of manual safety ( only the lever ) will it work? I mean the configuration that from left there is manual safety and from right no safety lever ( for example custom grip with one side cut for safety)
@SIGMECHANICS
Жыл бұрын
If I’m understanding you correctly, no. It won’t work since the lever design is such that it rod retained by a return on either side of the lever. Removing the lever (thumb rest) would make the lever loose on the opposite end.

The P365 from the safety notch will not cause issues with debris. The FCU design is very open and debris build-up is no more than without it.

This is my first Sig and just removed the FCU to clean up excess lube before heading to yhe range. After reassembly, the slide does not want to fully rack back on the frame. Am i missing something?
@SIGMECHANICS

My first thought is that one of the components like the takedown lever has popped out of place. Unfortunately, the 365 components are not tight fitting and sometimes when installing them back, they tend to be out of place. Once it’s in the grip however it usually is fine, but it’s hard to tell if everything went it the right way until AFTER, you put it in. Does the left side of the grip have a slight bulge?
@jmannUSMC
9 ай бұрын
@@SIGMECHANICS after taking multiple breaks from frustration I finally figured it out. The takedown lever bar ended up on the wrong side of the sear, preventing it from lowering enough for the slide to pass. Just had to partially remove a pin enough to put the bar where it needed too. Thanks for the reply. In the end it was kind of fun learning the mechanics of the FCU

Have you read that there are over 150 lawsuits of the sig 320, that didn't have the manual safety firing on it's own? Many of these are police officers having their own gun discharge reverb while holstered. They even have it on video firing while holstered. You think you can put in a disclaimer on your video to protect yourself. If the gun goes off because they removed the safety and injures or kills a child, do you think you are protected? Especially if it happens in an anti gun state. A grieving parent of a dead child will not look good on the witnesses stand against you.....
@SIGMECHANICS
Жыл бұрын
I have read about the lawsuits, and seen the videos. To date there hasn’t been any evidence by means of real, repeatable methods of actually making a P320 fire un commanded. When the drop safety issue in 2017 came up, it was something that was possible to replicate with a hammer and primed cartridge. The failure should at the very least be able to be replicated in lab conditions to show the failures are not caused by people inadvertently pulling the triggers. That being said, I generally will still put a disclaimer on videos where I am showing myself modifying a gun since at that point I am altering something beyond factory recommendations. I’m the case of removing the manual safety on the P365, I won’t have any problems as this is something that makes no alterations to the FCU that is not already available through the manufacture.
