Good Review! A couple of things to know for anyone interested in this airbrush: - Parts are compatible across the entire Talon line - that includes the VIsion, so if fine detail is what you need, you can always get the Vision's #0 Needle/Nozzle (.20 - uses the #1 Air Cap). - If you get this kit with all the needles and need a siphon airbrush for greater paint capacity, Paasche offers a needle/nozzle-less version of the Talon TS for a pretty low price. You'll already have everything needed to get up and painting with that empty brush. That being said, the TS does not include a built-in stop for the handle - but thanks to parts interchangeability, the Talon TG's Handle/Stop can be used with no problem. - Personally, I found the divot on the trigger to be a little "slippery" for me. Luckily, the VIsion's trigger (TGX-106) is angled toward the front and has ridges on the surface. It feels much better to me, and is not that expensive! Again, that parts interchangeability works to the advantage of this line. Now, the things you should be aware of about this airbrush. - You usually have to pull back a bit before paint starts flowing. Not a bad thing, necessarily - just a matter of getting used to it. Making use of the needle stop until then will help a lot. - Not sure what they use in the packaging process, but whatever lubricant/agent they use during assembly could cause internal components to get "stuck" - depending on how long the airbrush you buy sits in someone's inventory, I suppose. I personally had to teardown/clean/assemble my brush when I got it, but once I did (re-lubricating with Paasche Airbrush Lube), if feels very smooth. - Depending on how you position your airbrush when painting, the large cup might feel like it's in the way. - Like Otaku mentioned in the Review, you should put some wax on your nozzle thread and use the wrench, being careful not to over-tighten. While not as delicate as Neo nozzles, you CAN crack it if you overdo it. If you only tighten by hand, you will likely get an air leak around the nozzle, which is easily identifiable by bubbling in your paint cup. So overall, I think that the Talon TG is a pretty versatile brush and a decent value. If you find that the cup is an annoyance, you can always get the Raptor instead, which is this same brush, but with a cup that is about 1/3rd the size. As a long-time Paasche user, I was happy to add this to my collection after about a 15 year hiatus from painting. I've had VL brushes since '92, and those still work fantastic. I added the Talons because with finer needles, I'll obviously be able to do a variety of jobs with these.

You seamed to have flow/burst issues with 0.66 trying to make fine lines, but you never used the new control screw in the back of the Talon which is basically the new add to that model and reason for upgrade. It limits the amount of flow so you don't need to worry.

My only complaint about the Talon, is the trigger, it seems it can jump off the top of the air valve stem, other then that, I Truly Love my Paasche Airbrush’s. 1 year later, I had the tension rod plate upside down, the plate that rides the trigger, has a short and long side, I had the short side facing up, the long side should face up, my issue not the Talons issue!

Notice the difference in the needle shape from other brands? The paint flows differently with this brush and at times you have to modify your thinning, depending on the type of paint. You get more paint with less trigger pull due to the needle shape. Your pressure will also differ from other airbrushes because of this. So may people review these without being aware of any of these differences and criticize the airbrush when it's their lack of experience and or knowledge that is the issue. That was part of the issue with the sudden burst of paint with the .66mm, along with being too thin. Will admit, though, you gave it a much more even handed review than others have.

Have you figured out what the best pressure is for each size needle? I get the size 3 dialed in but I can’t seem to get the smaller needle set with the right air PSI.

@@eugenemcniel7622 I have the VLS and the Vision and the Vision has the 0.2mm size, so not sure. Have you tried adjusting the thinning for the smaller needle? And what kind of paint are you spraying?

@@swdw973 I'm using acrylic citadel paints. I tried thinning it more but then it is to thin and is really wet when it hits the model and just runs and pools. But if I keep it closer to what I use on the size 3mm then it tip dries so much I barely get to start and have to keep cleaning the needle tip. So was thinking I needed to change pressure between the needle sizes
@swdw973

@@eugenemcniel7622 I always change pressure for needle sizes and for different paint types Acrylic, enamel, metal flake). I know some people have reported, depending on the paint that they've pushed paint through a Talon with fairly low pressures and one person pushed ink through successfully at only 5 psi! But Paasche doesn't ever mention going that low. If tip dry is an issue have you tried either a flow improver or a retarder in the paint?
@eugenemcniel7622
Жыл бұрын
@@swdw973 yeah I use flow improver and I think it was just a bad batch of white primer I got because the black with the 3 mm needle is working fine and the smaller needle with thinned paint is working good. I guess Pasche says to keep the PSI between 30-50 for best atomization but that seems real high to me.

build quality is about the same, but this was a 3 in 1 set so you get more out of the box. I prefer the Patriot's nozzle design and trigger feel, but if you work on big projects you might appreciate the Talon more.

Jon Yusko they're good for any level but expect to still have to thin them down sometimes even if they're supposed to be airbrush-ready, especially if they've been on the shelf for a while.
