When ornamental varieties of trees and shrubs are added to a landscape, the use of pesticides can become necessary, as these plants are more prone to insect infestations. Diseases can also be more prevalent in ornamental varieties of trees and shrubs as they are not fully accustomed to living in their new environment. In order to keep your property in the best of health, systemic insecticides and fungicides can, and should, be applied. If done at the right intervals and dosages, insects and diseases are not likely to move in and make themselves at home in your yard. Letting a landscape go natural to allow insect infestations and diseases to creep in can be catastrophic to a non-native landscape, causing all your hard work and money invested in your trees and shrubs to be wasted.
