Good work Mike, The linked dipole for 20 / 40 is my go to antenna for pota activations. We put so much time and effort and money getting to these parks, the least we can do is use a quality antenna set up. A dipole will get the job done folks. I average over 50 contacts per activation. A link dipole for 20/40 will put you right where you need to be. I'll catch you next time Mike. 73 Ad4xt

All of them haha! It really depends on what you want to operate and how you can get an antenna set up. I do like the flexibility of having a vertical and a dipole. Everything is a compromise in one way or another. The WRC is prob easier to just get on the air with as you don't need any masts or guy wires or anything, but tuning takes a bit of practice finding where the sweet spot is on the coils. Every place is different depending on the soil composition/moisture so you really have to tune it for each place you deploy it. Changing bands is also going to take more time as you have to tune it again. The dipole is easier in that regard as its already tuned, and when you want to change bands you just connect or disconnect the plug. But you have to get it in the air somehow. It is really easy to deploy the mast, guy it and get on the air though. I would say set up time is about the same. Usually about 10 minutes or so. In MI, the state parks don't allow you to throw anything in the trees so you have to get it up with a mast. Other states don't have that restriction to my knowledge. Of course, check with your state. Hope this helps more than it confuses:). 73
