No practico ejercicios. Fernando Pessoa.

This is a travel down memory lane. In 1982 I worked on a cruise liner, home town Miami. I went to a concert with these guys in a "small" venue in Little Havana. Beside the craftsmanship of these guys there are one thing I still remember: The noise of people when the guys was not playing, and the complete silence when they did.

When I bought my first Mahavishnu album, I was amazed. I would jam with it and use everything I know. Talk about shallow! As I played the album relentlessly, I noticed an infrastructure that confused me terribly. My next step of guitar my buffoonery was to play the album at 45 RPMs to at least catch up to speed. No dice there! Speed up to the 80s. I bought a book of the four Mahavishnu concert scores that were designed By John McLaughlin. I shredded the pages over the years. The book spine was frayed, there were many coffee rings on all the pages and the pages were tattered at the edges. John was playing at the Living Room in Providence. I brought my stack of wounded pages hoping for an autograph. One of the crew gave him the paper stack. When it was given back to me there was an autograph that read, "To Jerry, Thanks for the appreciation!" I still have the book and I use whenever my chops get lame. I just wanted to show him that I really wanted to understand and play his tunes. Understanding, Yup! Catching up to him, no way in hell! Sorry about the novel but I thought this might be amusing.

Extraordinary virtuosity! Wonderful to see three such accomplished musicians playing together. As others have noted, it's perhaps not appropriate to compare such great instrumentalists, although for me, while two have complete technical command, the third has complete technical and expressive command. Paco does not merely play the guitar - it is more like it is a part of him.

35 years ago, I’d been diligently practising playing the guitarra. When I heard this, in the form of „Friday Night in San Francisco”, my heart and soul got shattered in two, and have never reunited since and after... I was in absolute awe. I lost my appetite, I could not sleep, the tiny little world of a sparrow-fart town I lived in was shattered.. Jesus, as much as I love you, fucking Christ.... You shouldn’t have let me hear this. I’d have better had a stroke at 16 before I heard this. What an inspired, masterful performance. Indeed, it made me mute forever, giving up all teenager efforts even to aspire to be one hundredth of what I heard. All three players are insanely great. But make no mistake, whenever McLaughlin or Al do Meola seem to fly beyond the unexpected, Paco de Lucia cuts into their heavenly skills and, in a cool way, shows them who really runs the show. An absolute masterpiece... I am glad to have lived in an era to be electrocuted by their art...

… Excellent … I got to see and hear Paco de Lucia at El Teatro de La Opera in Maracay Venezuela many years ago and was stunned … I'm a guitarist and have always wanted to play like him... Also heard John McLaughlin on recordings and really like the way He Plays also. Also heard on recordings Al Di Meola and was intrigued by the way He plays... Maybe I got a lot of his Craziness in my mind when I play My Electric...

Simplesmente o MELHOR. Estou muito triste com essa notícia. Você me inspirou profundamente. De um violonista de Goiás, Brasil. Rip.
