Absolutely love the unique bridges you came across in this walk of yours

I loved the bridges, too. During my time in Padang, I found myself routinely heading to the river area either on foot or on the scooter and then going back and forth across the river on the various bridges. It gave the area a very friendly feeling.

I really liked Padang. The more time I spent there, the more I enjoyed it. I especially liked the rivers in the city itself and the beautiful coastline.

Hello fellow I am born Padang ( 1946 ) and live in Holland since 1952 but I will live again in my birth place. Can I ask you something? What kind of translation program do you use in your mobile phone?

They use loudspeakers to attract swift to lay their nest in the buildings. Later these nests are cleaned and processed and sold as birds nest soup, a Chinese delicacy.

That's fascinating. Would that explain why it was so loud? I thought I was hearing the birds themselves. But maybe it was a recording over loudspeakers.

you should visit Masjid Raya Padang, that's the main mosque in Padang, one of the most unique mosque in Indonesia, you can go inside too

I did visit that mosque, and I had some adventures there. I didn't actually go inside the mosque itself, but I was able to climb up the inside of the minaret and get a nice view of the mosque from up there. I had an interesting experience there, but I'm still editing the video. I'll be uploading it soon.

I was in Sumatra about 6 years ago, and on my way to Padang was warned to watch for "bad people" there. As it turns out, about an hour after visiting an ATM I realized that I had been Pickpocketed (I made the mistake of putting money in a pocket on my knapsack) while passing through a crowded market. Turns out I had likely been followed and set up by professionals, it cost me a few hundred dollars. Apparently, this has become a sport there with all the surfers passing through on short stays.

Luckily, I didn't have any experiences like that. And I hadn't heard any stories about Padang being known for pickpockets and theft in general. No one told me that when I was talking about plans for going there. Seemed like a friendly town. Of course, a lot of foreign tourists would likely attract pickpockets and people like that. I wonder, though, if this was the right time of year for surfers. I heard a lot about surfing at the Mentawai Islands, and I met a group of surfers at the airport. But other than them, I saw little evidence of any tourism at all. I think I saw two other foreigners in the entire month that I was in the area. They were definitely surfers, and I think they had an Australian accent, but they were the only ones I saw the entire time.

Scenic scene picnic- goes to the limits of scholarship of english

Sometimes you start speaking and you find yourself at a linguistic dead end. And then your brain just gives up and produces things like "a scenic scene." After I said scenic, I couldn't think of another word to use after it. 😀

I crossed that bridge many times while I was in Padang. I walked across it a few times and I rode my scooter across it dozens of times. It was always a lot of fun, and it gave nice views of the river scenery. I really enjoyed all the other bridges, too. As I rode my scooter along the river, I came across a series of small bridges, and I rode back and forth across all of them just for fun.

Perhaps its auto video editing software that must be blanking out the stick image with images from the surrounding

That is a feature of the Insta360 X3 camera itself. Since it shoots with two ultrawide lenses at the same time, it is able to overlap those two videos and the selfie stick disappears as if by magic. You can still see the line between the two. There is some distortion there. But it's a cool magic trick.

Unfortunately, I have very little artistic sense. I have no ability to see what looks good and what doesn't. That's probably why I just stick giant yellow lettering on everything. I figure if it's clearly visible, that is good enough. 🙂 Plus, by the time a video is ready to be posted, I have no energy to even think about the thumbnail. But, I think you're right. The white does look much better. It's certainly much classier than bright yellow.
