were there any Irish heroes from Sneem? or Skibbereen?
@Historically

I can’t say for sure as I would need to some more research to give you a definitive answer, but no names come to my from either Sneem nor Skibbereen. I must confess, I’m not too familiar with Irish history so there very well could be some heroic figures from either of those towns. However there were a number of Irishmen who gained fame by fighting for Britain during the Second World War. Eugene Esmonde (from Drominagh), David Lord (from Cork), Donald Garland (from Ballinacor) all were awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry (a number of other Irishmen also were awarded the VC). I know that in the First World War, Michael O’Leary, from Macroom, just about an hour away from Skibbereen, was awarded the VC. During the Crimean War, in 1855, John Sullivan of Bantry (also close to Skibbereen) was awarded the VC.
