They showed them moving towards the fire..but in real incident 😕 they actually jumped from height on fire. And in our Indian history there ate lots of unrealistic sounding stories of bravery and sacrifices which are unfortunately never told to our people because of political and ideological reasons.

There is no historic evidence to support this claim (Jauhar). The movie is based on a fictional poem and folk tale that later developed post the poem's metaphoric depiction of the actual conquest of Chittorghar.

@@fahadahmed3309 are you out of your mind...?! Johar was actually there where women sacrificed themselves to fire inorder to protect their dignity from those moghal invaders & they found no reason to live as their suhag(husband) already died so they also wanted to die.... it continued even after end of Mughals invasion.... In the name of "Sathi sahagamana paddhathi", which was later abolished due to progressive protest by Raja Ram Mohan roy and other social thinkers......

@Shashi Chauhan @Archu GANESH Dont get me wrong, I'm not denying the concept or practice of Jauhar. I'm speaking from within the context of this movie only. The flim is basically loosely based on the poetic and metaphoric interpretation of the battle of Chittorgarh in a poem form and not on real historic hard facts from the actual event in history itself. Ofcourse the conquest and battle of Chittorgarh is real historic event but there is no evidence of jauhar taking place that was led by Rani Padmini. (The makers of this film them selves mention that its a work of fiction and the entire movie is an adaptation of the poem "Padmawat" by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi. Before Jayasi's poem theres not even a single historic record of any Rani Padmini of Chittor or Jauhar that took place during Alludin's conquest. And the poem is the only and the earliest source that mentions her and the Jauhar and the poem itself was composed centuries after the actual event of Chittorgarh battle took place. Only after this poem and many years later after that other sources surfaced mentioning Rani Padmini and there are more than 4 different conflicting accounts of her existence and her life events therefore due to the insufficient and lacklustre factual information available regarding her, it basically makes her entire existence in history questionable.

@@GauravKumarDey- The seigh of Chittorgarh took place in 1303. Poem by Malik Muhammad Jayasi "Padmawat" was composed in 1540. How is it possible that there was all the information on the seigh it self but there was no mention of jauhar mentioned any where and centuries later only after Jayasi's poem multiple stories of a jauhar and the legend of Rani Padmini surfaced. And btw there are multiple versions of that story by various sources. ◇Jauhar◇ The 16th century legendary poem Padmavat states that Ratnasimha's queen Padmini and other women committed suicide by jauhar (mass self-immolation) to avoid being captured by Alauddin. This claim is also repeated in several later texts. Historian Kishori Saran Lal dismisses the Padmavat as a non-historical text, but believes that a jauhar did happen at Chittor following Alauddin's conquest.[16] On the other hand, Banarsi Prasad Saksena notes that contemporary writer Amir Khusrau does not mention any jauhar at Chittor, although he has referred to the jauhar during the earlier conquest of Ranthambore. Therefore, Saksena believes that the story of jauhar at Chittor is a fabrication of the later writers.[9] Source *wikipedia*

This is a real story of queen Padmavati. This vlimqx scene where the queen and other females sacrifice themselves into fire is known as "Johar". When a king losses the battle and the enemy wants the kingdom with all people, the females and queen do Johar, that means they throw themselves into fire. So that enemies cannot touch their pure soul/body. Fire is considered as the source if purity in Indian culture (Hindu culture). You can check more about this by searching "Johar in India by queens ".

He tries and tries to play various tricks and blackmail on them so he can see her, but she outsmarts him every time til the end that she commit the immolation with her beloved handprints on the fabric, probably a religious tie to him for reincarnation or something, and the villain NEVER sees her.

There was opposition to this film in India because Khilji was not shown as bad as it was. because of secular thinking After the victory, Khilji used to distribute the women of that state among his soldiers. Khilji calls Ranjit Singh a one v one contest and threatens, after the death of the king, every soldier of Chitor throws himself in the war and the women set themselves on fire and the entire Guhil Vans of Chitor ends. Ha means death or victory, this practice is called Johar.
