SAINT PADRE PIO IN SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO PUGLIA ITALY,
The Padre Pio Shrine in San Giovanni Rotondo Puglia, Southern Italy, is a popular Catholic pilgrimage shrine. A well-known Italian saint who died there 40 years ago.
Padre Pio came to the Capuchin monastery in San Giovanni Rotondo in 1916 and made his home there for 52 years until his death in 1968. Besides being devoted to God, he was known for his care of the sick and supernatural powers. He was declared a saint in 2002.
In April 2008, the saint's body was exhumed and put on display in a glass coffin in Santa Maria delle Grazie sanctuary. The coffin with his body can be viewed in the crypt of the Santa Maria delle Grazie Church.
My trip to San Giovanni Rotondo was last May 14,2022 that was after Sicily's travel. From Sicily', I rode by the bus in almost 15 hours.
From Sicily to Catania in 1and half hours or most likely to 2 hours, changed a bus there.
From Catania direct to San Giovanni Rotondo in 13 hours.
It was an amazing experienced I had ever in my life able to saw Padre Pio in real on my naked eyes. His body was uncorrupted, lying there looked like he's just sleeping only. San Giovanni Rotondo was an amazing place to go. When I arrived there, just a little walk up you could see the old church where Padre Pio always presiding his masses. My tears just fell down on my cheeks, cold believed I am steeping the places. In the front of the church was Padre Pio's amazing huge hospital and behind the church just little farther were the new church in which you could find Padre Pio's body remains to see. The new church was architecturally amazingly built. Now the place was the home pilgrimage.
