A drama staged by the Triad of soul, mind, and body invoking an unexpected musical vistas. Pianist needs superhuman efforts and skills to challenge this astonishingly tricky piece, one of whose intents seems to mockingly check if all the keys are working superbly. Here is my profound admiration for the grace, humility, and perseverance of left hand whispering secrets to the ear of right hand for a perfect harmony. They are free as solitude, yet neither is alone! Caveat: Cannot afford sentimental indulgence while enjoying this piece. Thanks

I find the left hand ostinato in the coda to be difficult. Playing a fifth up then a fourth then a fifth, with no white key as a reference point, makes accuracy there especially challenging for what is just an accompanying figure, although it does function to assist in providing the volume necessary for the big ending.

Thank you for this! I’ve been playing piano for almost 10 years and recently performed Fantaisie Impromtu after some months of practicing it. I felt really comfortable playing it and am looking for a bigger challenge. Would you consider being able to play La Campanella unrealistic at the level I’m at? I’m specially good at fast speeds, complex rhythms and playing octaves.
@JeewonLeepiano
3 жыл бұрын
La Campanella will definitely feel more challenging after Fantasie Impromptu. But it is not unrealistic, and it can serve you well in advancing your technique to the next level. Even if notes don’t flow flawlessly, just keep practicing it. Pieces like this (actually any piece of music in my opinion) are not to be perfected in a couple of months or even a year. You will discover and learn new things every time you go back to it. 🤞

I've wanted to play this song for a while but it's hard to keep practicing when there isn't much progress to show for it. This video was very helpful for technical tips do you have any tips on staying committed to practicing?
@JeewonLeepiano
3 жыл бұрын
Glad you found it helpful! In terms of staying committed to practicing, having a reasonable short term and long term goal helps. For example, a long term goal can be a performance. Depending on your level and experience, it can be a full recital or as casual as playing for your family and friends. Set a date of the performance and work with your “deadline” in organizing your practice times and schedule. I am not always motivated to practice but when I have a date set for a recital , I WILL make myself practice. 😅 This is actually a good idea for a video, I will try to elaborate on this.

@@gamesurfers2444 It sounds like you need a bit of guidance. Pedaling is important as it can make or ruin all your hard work you did on the keyboard. Where and how much you pedal is, to a certain extent, a matter of taste in Liszt and other 19th century repertoire but you need a discerning set of ears which develop with years of experience with different repertoire.
