In "Royal Weddings in Russia: Pageant and Piety at the Court of Russia's Rulers," Westminster College Professor Russell E. Martin discusses his research on 16th-18th century Russian royal weddings.
This presentation examines the role(s) of Orthodox canons and beliefs in shaping how royal weddings were performed, ultimately drawing general conclusions about these rituals and ceremonies among politics, power, and larger scope of early modern Russian culture.
