Iceland is probably the most interesting volcanically active place in the world. You get the likes of Eyjafjallajökull erupting pumice and ash, but then you also get stuff like this... pahoehoe has very low silica content, but volcanoes that explode violently have sticky, silica-rich lava. You'd think Icelandic volcanoes would have either silica-rich or silica-poor lava since they're all in the same geographic area, but no.
