After visiting a chiropractor for a few weeks, I left with this pain, and pain all the way down my back. I finally visited my doctor, who sent me to an IPA physical therapist in town. They were amazing! Turned out to be a destabilized C-1 and C-2 (I had never had this issue before the chiropractor), which they were able to help me with. Additionally, they found the Dura Mater was extremely tight, and have taught me how to release that tension. I occasionally do have issues with this, and when I can’t get relief at home, I find myself back in their office for a few visits. I praise God for the help he led me to! I hope this is helpful to anyone who might be still suffering with this awful condition!

I've had issues with TMJ, which has mostly gone away & now it's the back of my neck/skull that is in pain often. I think people carry stress differently, I'm in my head a lot & the breathing exercises are a great suggestion to those with upper/head pain. Moves your attention lower so those muscles up top can relax.

I’ve had pain in this area for many years. I’ve been through all kinds of treatments and physical therapy. 2 doctors suggested that I get frequency abililation (I don’t think I spelled it correctly). I had the injections 2x and they didn’t help at all. I actually got occipital neuralgia from the the procedure on the right side of my head, and everything is much worse now. The doctor said that he wants to implant a device in the back of my neck with wires coming out to hook up a stimulater. I said no freaking way.

I've had this pain ever since my chiropractor started "correcting" my range of motion at the base of my skull. Went back a hundred times and the pain only got worse. After about 30+ visits I gave up assuming this was never going to end and I'm wasting my money. One thing that have helped me for pain relief in short term are a strong liniment/salve, in sweden its called "tiger balm" och "snake balm". I cut my hair short and use it on the back of my skull and it really works for some hours and allows me to continue studying. So buy the strongest balm/salve/liniment that the drug store have and give it a try! I see its 1 year ago, how is your pain now, and found something that have helped? /Alexander

I injured my neck at a job years ago. I had physical therapy soon afterwards and there was a big improvement for about 6 months. Since then nothing seems to help much including physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments and exercises. I had surgery several years ago because I was getting pain in my arms. It took care of the pain in the arms but not my neck. I get tinnitus and lose of hearing at times with dizziness and it's hard to sleep through the night, Some nights i have to sleep in a chair with a neck brace on. I had many x-rays and 2 MRI's but doctors can't find the problem. I'm not sure what to try next

There is a video from a different person about the atlas cervical vertebra being out of line and causing it to reduce the flow of the jugular vein up to 70% in some positions. The way he described it was that the jugular works as a two-way street. In with the good and out with the bad. The decreased flow traps too many toxins in the brain and does not allow for proper spinal fluids to get released. Don't know the validity of this, but it may be something to look into??
Thank you so much for this information. I'm gathering as much information that I can find and try to get this resolved. I've been in pain every day for several months and I'm sleeping in a chair at night to keep the pressure off my neck. Hopefully the doctors will be able to help if that's where the problem is
